Prophecy dreams and prophecy dreams

I've been thinking a lot about the prophecies in buffy/angel and its occurred to me that it's likely that without the prophecies themselves the things which they predict would never happen. Its like neo in matrix when he knocks over the vase after the oracle tells him he will knock it over and she says nwo the real question is would yo have knocked it over if I hadn't said anything.

Therefore I have speculated have been placed there by some higher power, possibly the PTB in order to manipulate events, for example the prophecy about buffys death in series 1 was sent so that buffy would go into the hellmouth and die bringing about a series of events that literally changed the world, hopefully for the better. Do you agree with me or do you have another explanation?

However buffys prophecy dreams are different but I have theory about these too. I got the idea from an episode of some sci fi program like star trek or something were this guy got a virus thing which gave him amnesia but the virus existed outside of time, so if it was removed in the present it would be removed in the past aswell as though it had never been there.

Well I think that buffys prophecy dreams may be similar, as we know each time a slayer dies then the next slayer inherits their abilities and sub-coniously there memories, so there is a link between all slayers past and present.

So what if this connection exists outside of time what if the first slayer was connected to all future slayers before they even existed, meaning she would have all their memories etc stored in her subconcious then this may explain why slayers have prophectic dreams. They already have the knowledge stored in their brains but cant access it, however when we dream we access our sbconcious maybe the slayer can access their own memories from future slayers in order to predict whats going to happen. I know this theory is a bit complicated and confusing and if i haven't explained it properly then ask me to try again and i will but i would just like to know what you think because its always annoyed me how the dreams where never explained and it annoyed me thinking where do these future telling powers come from

I kinda understand what your saying. You make some interesting points. I don't know about the whole slayer having future slayers memories though. I do however, somewhat agree that the PTB try to influence what are characters do based on prophecies or prophecy dreams.

If you have any other theories about the whole where buffys prophecy dreams come from then i'd love to hear them

because i honestly find the whole bewildering but interesting

I think i may have found further evidene that may suggest buffy is connected to future slayers. In series 7 when potentials where being killed buffy could see them die which suggests that there is a two way connection between the slayer and potentials, who will one day become the slayer, therefore this in a way supports my theory because it suggests the connection is two way like a phone call, information can be sent and recieved between slayers

Also series 3 buffy and faith share a dream, but it appears to be buffy entering faiths dream, at least it does to me, which again shows how buffy has a connection with future slayers, even though they all exist in the present
