Proposition Eight

Well, randiann, just by the way you say "all you gays" pretty much sounds narrow minded enough.

I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm!
For all the gays who want to be married I think this is just awful. For myself I personally never want to get hitched and think tat being gay makes that even better on my behalf. The thing is ican barely stand living with people let alone being with them "till death do us part" and I would feel wierd hearing the word "god" in a gay marriage due to the whole christians think gays are going to hell ect. One last thing I think is I certainly wouldn't want to be called te bride.

The first part of your comment is a personal choice so I won't comment on that.

The second part, I will.
I take issue with your comment regarding Christians thinking all gays go to hell.
I don't think that is the case at all, while there are some I know plenty that have no issue with it.

I am a catholic and I don't think that at all.

Ohh and would you prefer to be a bridesmaid?

Well, randiann, just by the way you say "all you gays" pretty much sounds narrow minded enough.

I seriously don't think you can imply that she is narrow minded by reiterating a comment YOU made.

Truthfully and honestly, I don't really care what happens. If gay people can get married I don't care, and if they can't...I don't care.
I'm not anti-gay, some of my good friends are gay, it just doesn't effect me so I'm not going to take a stand one way or another because it isn't me. If people want to stand for gay rights, that's great, and if they don't I respect it.

There are more important things in the world to worry about at this point.

There is quite a difference between that and whether a certain group of people can get freaking married.
Power to everyone, I don't take sides about things I don't know enough about. And I don't take sides on something
just because it's the right thing to do, because how do you know it's the right thing without learning about it.

Not really. Oppression is oppression is oppression.
As long as Gay Marriage is outlawed it is given the majority of people who are the oppressors the belief they are correct.
That is wrong.

The subjugation of any group of people totally pisses over your 'power to everyone' comment.

If you are ignorant of something then don't even bother posting until you know something because it shows you to be a callous, ignorant and dare I say homopohobic person.
I am not calling you the above(well I am ignorant as you already said you are) just an observation.

BUT the thing that irks the most, isn't that you don't know, its the fact you said you don't care. Thats where the problem is.
You're happy to live in your ignorance because it doesn't affect you.
I hear all the time 'I have gay friends' but the fact is, if you said that to ANY of them, they would be pissed.

OH YOU ALL ARE GOING TO LOVE MY EXAMPLE.
Murder is Murder.
As long as animals are allowed to be murdered and people aren't, it makes it ok.
that is wrong.

Ok WHAT? I'm just saying I think it's great that everyone has their own opinion and If they really care about something go for it.

If you are ignorant of something then don't even bother posting until you know something because it shows you to be a callous, ignorant and dare I say homopohobic person.

Don't tell me where to not post. This is a discussion about Prop 8. If you don't like what I'm discussing, feel free to ignore me.
I'm far from homophobic. I'm just not going to choose a side YET because I haven't learned enough about it. There are two sides to everything. I research them WELL before choosing one.

BUT the thing that irks the most, isn't that you don't know, its the fact you said you don't care. Thats where the problem is.

I am not happy in ignorance, ignorance isn't bliss.
It's not like I will never look into it and choose what I believe, I just haven't yet, and I'm not going to make an assumption until I do. Who ever said I was happy that I don't care?

I hear all the time 'I have gay friends' but the fact is, if you said that to ANY of them, they would be pissed.
Funny, because my friends that are gay RESPECT my opinion and that I don't know how I feel about it.

I don't have a problem with gay people. I like them just as much as everyone else, because they are everyone else. But it doesn't mean i'm going to be on that side just because of that.

OH YOU ALL ARE GOING TO LOVE MY EXAMPLE.
Murder is Murder.
As long as animals are allowed to be murdered and people aren't, it makes it ok.
that is wrong.

Animals don't have the same level of conciousness as humans PLUS animals taste so much better than humans.

Ok WHAT? I'm just saying I think it's great that everyone has their own opinion and If they really care about something go for it.
You say 'power to everyone' then say you don't care about a form of oppression.

Don't tell me where to not post. This is a discussion about Prop 8. If you don't like what I'm discussing, feel free to ignore me.

Well I don't like what you're posting BUT thats not the point.
You don't join in a discussion if you know nothing about it, thats just common sense.
You're far from Homophobic are you? Is that because you have 'gay friends'?
Maybe you shoudl have thought about understanding the issue before steaming in with comments like 'I don't care' or 'power to the people'.

I am not happy in ignorance, ignorance isn't bliss.
It's not like I will never look into it and choose what I believe, I just haven't yet, and I'm not going to make an assumption until I do. Who ever said I was happy that I don't care?

If you weren't happy in your blatant ignorance, you would already have began to look into it.
Its not like its difficult to find information on the topic.
And the fact you already have an opinion (which you have because you posted it) shows you've already made assumptions.

Funny, because my friends that are gay RESPECT my opinion and that I don't know how I feel about it.

I don't have a problem with gay people. I like them just as much as everyone else, because they are everyone else. But it doesn't mean i'm going to be on that side just because of that.

Your friends respect your 'I don't care opinion' do they?
I say bullshit.
I would wager you've either not got any friends, gay ones, or you haven't told them exactly what you said here.

You like them just as much as everyone else eh, you mean everyone else that voted 'Yes' on Prop 8?

I joined the discussion, deal with it. I was giving my opinion so far.
No, I just don't have a problem with gay people and I do have many gay friends so I'd say I'm far from it.
Maybe what I should have said is "I don't care YET" or "I don't know enough to care yet". Sorry that's my mistake.
I don't understand whats wrong with power to all people. Everyone has an opinion and if they truly believe it, power it you.

If you weren't happy in your blatant ignorance, you would already have began to look into it.
Its not like its difficult to find information on the topic.
And the fact you already have an opinion (which you have because you posted it) shows you've already made assumptions.
I haven't looked into it yet because I'm currently looking into other things that effect me directly, it's more important to me about the
things that I'm going to be effected by. Then I can go and research it, but I just haven't yet.
I probably am leaning a little toward gays being able to marry, but what do you think my opinion is?

Your friends respect your 'I don't care opinion' do they?
I say bullshit.
I'm sorry you don't believe that my friends respect me and what I think.

I would wager you've either not got any friends, gay ones, or you haven't told them exactly what you said here.
You like them just as much as everyone else eh, you mean everyone else that voted 'Yes' on Prop 8?
I'm also sorry you don't think I have gay friends. But I'm not going to try and prove it to you or get mad, because that's stupid.
Yep. I like everyone the same.

I joined the discussion, deal with it. I was giving my opinion so far.

I don't understand whats wrong with power to all people. Everyone has an opinion and if they truly believe it, power it you.

And your opinion 'so far' was 'I don't care'
There is no problem with 'power to all people' what I hate are liberal pussies thats spout out this diatribe by back peddling after making a comment hoping it masks there already on show prejudice.

I haven't looked into it yet because I'm currently looking into other things that effect me directly, it's more important to me about the
things that I'm going to be effected by. Then I can go and research it, but I just haven't yet.
I probably am leaning a little toward gays being able to marry, but what do you think my opinion is?

Oh ya, sure you do, and I'm having breakfast with Scooby-Doo.
All I read here is more back peddling.

I'm sorry you don't believe that my friends respect me and what I think.

I'm also sorry you don't think I have gay friends. But I'm not going to try and prove it to you or get mad, because that's stupid.
Yep. I like everyone the same.
I'm sorry you feel the need to lie to seem like a liberal.

How would you prove it even if you wanted to?
What a silly comment to make.
Why would you also suggest to add an emotion to this, again, how silly.

And your opinion 'so far' was 'I don't care'

I'm not a liberal pussy. And I'm not trying to mast anything, I'm just not.
I'm not prejudice. Sorry. I'm not. You can think I am alll you want, but I'm not.
I really have nothing else to say here.
I need to lay off the "not"s.

Oh ya, sure you do, and I'm having breakfast with Scooby-Doo.
All I read here is more back peddling.
Why do you feel the need to doubt that I'm doing things that I'm actually doing?
I don't understand. Why would I make this up?

I'm sorry you feel the need to lie to seem like a liberal.
I don't try to seem anything for anyone. I say what I think and be who I am.
If you don't think it makes sense or think I'm trying to be something I'm not, tough.

How would you prove it even if you wanted to?
What a silly comment to make.
Why would you also suggest to add an emotion to this, again, how silly.
Well, you are doubted that I have friends that happen to like the same sex, and I really don't know what
you expect me to say, I was thinking: what did you want me to prove it to you or something?

I'm not a liberal pussy. And I'm not trying to mast anything, I'm just not.
I'm not prejudice. Sorry. I'm not. You can think I am alll you want, but I'm not.

I need to lay off the "not"s.

Yes, you do need to lay off them.
Great you have nothing else to say here...though I'll just respond to the rest of the stuff you had to say.

Why do you feel the need to doubt that I'm doing things that I'm actually doing?
I don't understand. Why would I make this up?
Because you made a mistake in your first comment and now you're furiously trying to back peddle.

I don't try to seem anything for anyone. I say what I think and be who I am.
If you don't think it makes sense or think I'm trying to be something I'm not, tough.
Then why back peddle?

Well, you are doubted that I have friends that happen to like the same sex, and I really don't know what
you expect me to say, I was thinking: what did you want me to prove it to you or something?
I doubted you because you made one claim that would contradict another.

I think the more correct thing to say was I made a mistake in WORDING my first post. Which I did.

Haha, yes you did.
And if you want to think that I made it clear the
first time go right ahead. I'm truly not worried about it.

I'm not the one treating people as morons. I'm also not trying to cover anything.

I guess I view everything with a cloud.

I don't understand how there could such a vocal outcry for this.

Over three thousand Americans are killed everyday by abortion. Three Thousand.

If that number of women were killed everyday, it would genocide.

If that number of blacks were killed everyday, it would be genocide.

If that number of gays were killed everyday, it would genocide.

If we had a president that allowed a war where that many soldiers were killed everday, he (or she!) would not only be kicked out office, they would probably be assisinated.

How can you expect to have the freedom to marry when you're gay if society can't even recognize your right to life?

I think this is a very interesting point, and I kind of have to agree....
This is my take on this, gay people can be together with or without some big head legal guy validating their love by saying they're married, but issues such as aborted fetuses don't have anything at all. I just believe there are more important issues to be dealth with in America and worked out before people start ranting and raving to have something else. But like I said that's my own view, I'd rather go to a pro-life rally than attend a gay parade, but that's because it's just where my personal priorities lie.

The passing of Prop 8 seriously makes my heart ache.

I attended a protest on the Saturday you mentioned, and it was awesome. My sign said "Love Not 8." 😀

(And no, I'm not gay, but that really doesn't matter to me. This isn't a gay/straight thing. This is a human being thing.)
