During enemies after Buffy reveals to Faith that her and Angel have been fooling her she says the word "psych".

I never understand the reference. I've talked to one person and she said she was referring to psychology but i just don't understand why Buffy would say it.

Can anyone explain what exactly she was infering?

I've heard it a lot (I live in the US), it just means "Gotcha!" .. when you psych someone out you are fooling them.

Nah, she wasn't referring to psychology. When someone says, "psych" after fooling you, it means they psyched you out, or "got ya."

Yeh, it's a slang term in the US. It was way over-used in the 90's. (you know you're a 90's kid when after everything you say, you respond "Psych!")

It means that you're just kiddin, or you fooled someone, like was said before.

It just means "just kidding" like people have said. I'm not sure if people watch it outside of the US, but that's why the show Psych is so funny... he's not a real physic; he's saying "physch" to everyone who thinks he is.

I got excited too because I thought it was about the show... really stupid of me since I had actually read this thread earlier this week... man, I'm losing it!
