Is it sweet or savoury?

I just cooked up some pumpkin and will have more to come over winter time, so thought I might try a pumpkin pie. I've never even seen one. So, insights? Are they a dinner or a dessert?

Usually dessert but either 😛 . I've had them like a rich dessert , or a savoury pie and an open flan. I'm no real fan of pumpkin as a vegetable . In the UK climate marrows are our pumpkins . Never really developed a taste for the flesh .

Awesome 🙂 thanks! I rekon this would taste amazing with golden syrup through it haha. So this gives me a reason to try a dessert pie... I just had a big bowl with cream for dinner so probably not tonight lol.

I always saw pumpkin as sweet just like how I see sweet potatoes as a sweet dessert too. I can’t ever have a sweet potato unless it’s for a dessert lol

I think i have had sweet potato in cake before but thats about it! I've seen a sweet potato mousse recipe before, have you ever had that?

I figured since the pumpkin wasnt put away yet, it wasnt going to be hard to try a pie. Its in the airfryer now... Not sure how it will go with the pastry that I used, but the mix tasted great! Golden syrup, cream and pumpkin. I dont think it would set like that? Every recipe uses canned pumpkin and mines fresh. Not that I looked too hard. I was just using whats on hand.

I am the worse person to give cooking advice. Lol. But I will say, I bake a good sweet potato casserole that tastes JUST LIKE Pumpkin pie without the crust. I think making a pie sounds really good and you should go for it!

I've never seen canned pumpkin in the UK stores ?
Never seen it here either. I only googled for recipes and they said canned pumpkin and I was like yeah nah, shut it down and stirred my own version haha. I am assuming sugar and cream is the right idea being dessert now 😝
