Imagine for a moment that Buffy sent Spike back to LA to start the famous second front and Angel wore the amulet into the hellmouth and torched himself. Nineteen days later, Angel pops up at W&H, incorporeal. During his brief death, Spike has been helping Wes and the gang out, so he's there when Angel arrives.

Now, here's the question. Actually two questions, or a question with two parts. 1)Should someone in Angel's old gang have tried to contact Buffy with the good news? And 2) Should or would Spike have tried himself? (This is assuming, of course, that Wes and the others actually knew where Buffy was and could get in touch with her)

I would think Wes would try to contact Buffy. He knows Buffy's past with Angelus, and none of them really knew the extent of her relationship with Spike other than Angel.

Simples really. Angel would want to make the decision himself and the gang would most likely respect that knowing what they know about him.

I actually doubt that he would want Buffy to see him in a lesser state but it's totally up to him if he wants to contact Buffy.

Same with Spike. He made no effort to get someone to contact Buffy on his behalf and Angel never stopped him. He wouldn't have even needed to go through Angel to get in contact with her.

In both instances it would be up to the men in question.

I think Angel would do it himself. When he went back from Hell, in my opinion, he was looking for Buffy. He maybe wasn't able to talk, but he was able to feel, and she was always in his heart. No one should tell Buffy Angel is back, he should do it himself.

So in this particular scenario what happens, Angel disappeared into a pillar of ash but he's already made the deal to run W&H... so Spike gets so disillusioned with Buffy choosing Angel he takes off and ends up in L.A. blowing off steam, runs into Wes and decides he can do some good with these folks?


So since Angel isn't there to be CEO of Hell Incorporated the mantle falls on I would guess Wesley right? I don't think Spike is a big picture thinker. So we have Wes running things with Gunn as his second and everyone else slots into place with Spike being the 'muscle,' helping Wes beat up the bad guys and wise crack something fierce also calling him a ponce from time to time.

So after a particularly difficult case where Wes had to stop a crazy maniac from blowing up his son who's also a biological weapon, thanks to Gunns legal heroics and Spikes last second dismantling of a crack commando team of course, he receives a package with some type of strange amulet which falls out and Angel reappears in front of him incorporeal.

Question 1) Absolutely not. Wes would continue to run the branch while Angel was still all ghostly. He would advise Angel to take it slow and cautious and figure out what caused this and why before he contacts anyone. Wes would probably try to keep as much of a lid on this as possible and try to get to the bottom of the mystery. Angel would in my estimation agree.

Question 2) Spike neither should nor would have tried himself. He's still all hurt by Buffy not picking him to be the 'savior' and picking broody pants instead. He is even more jealous of Angel then ever now that he realizes he could never be a champion on Buffys eyes. He'd probably attack Angel but go right through him and hit the table instead of walking through it, then storm out and get lit. Fred would have to go find him, talk him down and make him come back because at the end of the day the Fang Gang need him and Angel can't so much as move a pencil.

Eventually he'd come back make fun of Angel a lot and probably taunt him about how much he ISN'T going to tell Buffy this and laugh in his face.

When BUffy came back to life Willow phoned Cordy...I guess Wesley who knows the kind of relationship Angel and Buffy had, he would call her. Unless Angel didn't want to inform Buffy about it, but why not?

Well it seems like you were expecting us, dare I say it Bangels, to be a raving bunch of hypocrites saying 'yes, Spike absolutely should, if he didn't it would have shown how jealous he was blah blah blah' (😉 😛) but my thoughts are exactly the same as they were in the thread you had on this but involving Spike and whether and Angel should have phoned for him....no, absolutely not.

Just as it was Spike's move to make, so it would have been Angel's. Like the others have said I think Wes might have been a bit more forward about alerting Buffy than he was with Spike but if Angel had said nay, he would have accepted that.

Both Spike and Angel are big enough to make these decisions for themselves and there is no way of us reconciling ourselves to their chosen actions if it doesn't give us what we want.

I know that you're not going to believe this, but I really wasn't aiming at that target at all. It was actually pretty much the same thing as when I asked what would have happened in Season 7 if it had been Angel who confronted the gang after they threw Buffy out instead of Spike. I just thought that it would be interesting to imagine an alternate scene.

Why would you think that I was trying to lead you or any other Bangel into some sort of trap here? For the record, I seriously doubt that Spike would have gone to the trouble of finding Buffy with that sort of news either.

I really never had any idea that you Bangels ever thought of me as being that diabolical. Now that I do, though...

Well yes, I think Angel would have gotten someone to contact her, or contact her himself because he would have wanted her to know. With Spike, he did not want her to know and everyone respected his choice. I doubt Spike would have told her because he loved Buffy too. I also don't think he should tell her, because that is Angel's job.
