well i just finnished reading it, and i was wondering if anyone else has read it and what they thought

i haven't quite decided if i liked it or not. i liked certain parts and i also disliked certain parts. i think it rambled on a little bit to much in bits and took to long to get to the point.

so yeah just wondering what everyone else thought.

I read it.
The problem is, I haven't read most of the s8 comics, but I do know about some stuff that's happening. So I'm pretty confused where exactly the book fits in.

I also have to admit, especially towarards the end, I don't remember much of the plot. I was reading the book while I was in Russia 2 years ago and since I really had nothing to do I was just non-stop reading at a certain point, everything going by in a blur.

The book was written before the season eight comics, so it's pretty much an alternate universe.

I've read it, and i really enjoyed it!!! I thought it was well written and i could completely picture the characters saying what Nancy Holder had wrote.

Although if anything i think she's tried to cram too much into the one book, i think it would have worked better if she spread the story out over a couple of books.

It's ok. A very believable Immortal but now that we know what really happened it just seems a bit blah. Also I HATED the last with the dream of her,Spike and Angel and the child? That was beyond shite.

I agree with you. The thing with the child was blah blah. :S

Though, other than that, I really enjoyed the book.

I'm gonna buy this book next month. But I don't know if it's a comic book or a novel? And what size is it? I would like to buy if it's a big book with pics. It's more interesting to me. 🙂

No it is not a comic. There are no pictures either. It's a novel that tells us what happened after the gang got back on the bus after the season 7 finale.

I heard that alot of people did not enjoy it but I thought it was great. I was not a fan of the child becauses she was confusing for me. I don't think it fits into the season 8 comics at all, so I had to throw all that I thought had happened because of the comics away to really enjoy this book. Not Fade Away is my all time favorite Angel episode and so I loved that Buffy was shown some of the fight in the alley. I actually had forgotten that Buffy had not meet Illyria/Fred or Gunn. I also re-read the part where buffy is running towards the old vampires and she can see Spike, Angel, Illyria and Gunn's spirits running beside her about 3 times. That confused me as well because after she says that she knows Angel is alive, so than how was his spirit there? But either way, that part was breath-taking to me. Anyways, the book was fantastic. I thought the quotes, especially the last one were beautiful as well.
One of my favorite lines was,
My sword glowed,
the monster came,
The world....

Faith has a fairly good part in it. As much as Xander or Willow or the rest of them have. The book pretty much focuses only around Buffy, the immortal and the evil happenings behind the scenes.

Yes, it did get confusing at times. I just had to ignore the comics when I read it.

I liked it. I'd read it ages ago before the comics came out, I guess if you read it now whilst reading the comics you could easily dislike it for not being in tune with the comics.

The Immortal is possibly a vampire or any creature that is immortal. He's dating a decoy Buffy in Rome(It's Andrew's idea for Buffy's safety). Angel and Spike saw him when they went to Italy to do a mission. And they thought it's really Buffy so they were very pissed off, lol.

I think we have a thread about The Immortal here somewhere, but I can't ind it.

Yeah, I always wondered why it was bigger than the other books. It's a pretty big cover.

The paper in mine is yellowish. Not brown, but more like cream.

In the book, she does not really "go out" with the immortal. It's more like they both have a really really big crush. lol

Also, I just re-read some parts of it, and I take back what I said about Faith. She actually has a really big part in the book. I just forgot 🙂

And for any Kennedy haters, you may be surprised because she is extremely loyal to Buffy in the Book.

I love the book. Yes it was wrighten before the comics but it does tie into the commics. In the first set of the season 8 commics it tells you that there are to slayers poseing as buffy. Women who are trained to act like her and look just like her. One of them is underground...But the other is liveing a high profile life and dateing the immortal in italy. So that is where the book ties into the commics

^ It does NOT tie into the comics. In this book it really is Buffy who's "dating" the Immortal as opposed to the random Slayer posing as her. It's contradicting Season 8 all over the place.
It's an alternative continuity at best.


I've read it a while ago when I already read S8 but I thought it was worth checking out as Nancy Holder is one of the more capable Buffy novel writers but I thought it was mediocre at best. People always say there's too much story crammed into it and while I agree on a certain level I couldn't help but feel completely bored because nothing at all happens for long parts of the book and most action parts are skipped. I'm not a fan of fighting in books because it usually sounds awkward reading the descriptions as opposed to watching them on TV but there's almost no action at all. It just didn't have the right feel.
And the ending was just... blah. It's almost as if Holder couldn't decide whether she wanted to please the Bangels or the Spuffies so she kinda went with both. There are better Buffyverse novels out there but much worse too.

To me this book really sucked. I didn't even finish it. I only bought be (before s8 comics) because it was kind of cannon back then, and it was important to me to read what was after the show was over, because I'm not over it (Buffy, the show).
Maybe I should put the book for sell on eBay or something lol

I read this like when it first came out. I had it pre-ordered(Bit of a buffy geek and after it ended had to have anything buffy comeing out). i remember at the time I LOVED IT, but to be honest it's been so long I forgot. I'm gonna have to go back and read it., now that i remember it, lol.
