What exactly does this BB adoption do? I'm new-ish here and I've seen a few "adopt me" threads.

It's gives you a personal guide/advisor that you turn to for help or just to chat. You can ask anyone whenever you want but if you get adopted it's an official thing. For most people it's a fun thing, to get a mum or dad on the boards. But if you don't feel confident in asking anyone for help or advice it's a good way of finding someone who gladly will help you out finding your way on the boards. It can also be a good way of getting to know someone a bit better.
