Question About Being Sired?

It seems to me that a lot of vampires turned into vampires only because they got bitten. It didn't seem like they were all "sired" - made to drink blood... Is there something I'm missing??

No vampire turns into a vampire because they were bitten. Another vampire sired them for whatever reason. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Alot of times in the show however people will be bitten and then later on we see them as Vampires, I guess we are supposed to assume they were sired off screen. Like Harmony in Graduation Day, we just see her bitten and never sired, but I guess we are supposed to assume the vamp dragged her off to sire her. But in the verse they have to be sired, they bite then you drink.

For seriousness, I'm sure you have to drink vampire's blood to be turned. But I don't know why they have to bite you first. Maybe to make you feel thirsty so you'll willingly drink their blood?

Mainly though, it just boils down to continuity mistakes. They intended to kill them most likely and later thought it would be cool to bring them back as a vampire. Nothing more than that really so I don't worry about it. The writers just leave it ambigous so we can fanwank in the blanks ourselves but like Kate said, to be sired... you have mix blood; they drink then you drink.

I don't think there are many cases like Harmony, though. The one I think is dodgiest is in Helpless, when Kralik sires the member of the Watcher's Council. How exactly that played out while Kralik was under lock and key I don't know.

My main continuity issue is with the time it takes to resurrect. Sometimes it seems to be all but immediate (Helpless again), sometimes it takes long enough that the person's acually been buried.

Perhaps this can be fanwanked away - maybe it's dependant on the strength/age of the vampire doing the siring, or how much blood the victim drinks, for example.

These are just continuity mistakes. The writers chose to bring back these characters and just chose to let us, the viewers, fill in the blanks ourselves. Not a major issue really.

I know this is slightly off topic but I've always wondered if a vamp can drain till almost death and then the victim can drink from a separate vampire. It's possible in interview with a vampire so it has always made me wonder if that's the case with harmony and sandy. Like, they get left for dead by one vampire but then a separate vampire comes back for them.

I always wondered about this but I think Harmony biting the vamp makes more sense than him dragging her off to sire her lol I doubt a vamp would've done that with everything that was going on.
