Question about Ben

I searched this forum, and didn't see this asked before so...here I go. Was Ben created to be Glory's human vessel, or was he already a human before, and they just chose him as her vessel? Was he created, like never really born, kind of like Dawn was, by the other Hell gods or whatever, or was he a human with a life and everything?

Sometimes I get the impression he was created, sometimes I get the impression he was a normal human and they chose him. Is it ever said anywhere where exactly Ben came from? Iv'e seen every season 5 episode many times, but maybe I missed something. This has been bothering me for a while, I thought maybe someone here may have an idea.

It's never specified. The only thing ever said was that Ben was Glory's vessel, the rest is left up too you. Personally, i think that the other hell gods just emplanted her being into some random fetus that was already conceived, and there you have it.

In Spiral, Ben talks to one of Glory minions, and he says this:

Ben: Glory, her name is Glory, and she's your god, you little scab, not mine.

Minion Gronx: With all due respect and fear of sharp objects, you exist, sir, because of her divine greatness.

This could be saying that he was created FOR Glory, but then, they go onto say:

Ben: You mean her divine failure, don't you? I didn't ask for any of this. I just want to be normal.

Minion Gronx: We play the hand we're dealt.

Ben: Nothing's mine, is it? This life, this body, it's all infected. The only thing I've ever cared about she's taken away from me.

This could suggest that he was human then he was used as Glory's vessel, so Kindred's right, its never spectified...well it is, it can just go both ways I guess.

My person opinion is that Ben was created merely for Glory to exist in...

I think he was created only for Glory. I think I can remember someone comparing Ben and Dawn to one another saying they were never supposed to exist. But I may be wrong.

I thought it had something to do with "the first boy born on this day, will have to be a vessel for Glory" (ya know, the whole being born at a certain time type of thing) although I may be wrong, but I think thats what I remember about him.

i think that it's kind of like Dawn's situations, she was created to be the key, but it was still her life, emotions and everything else. Even if her was only created for Glory to exist, he would still have a childhood, birthparents (do I remember something abou him being an orphan?) and all that other human junk...

I was under the impression that Glory was combined with a fetus. As in a conception too place, and that's when it happend.

However, it could go both ways though, perhaps the child was conceived with the sole purpose of being a vessel for Glory.
