Hello. So, I started watching season 4 episode 17 and Jonathan is in it. Since when did Jonathan become a badass? I mean, she went to him for help... In the previous episodes, when they were going to high school, Jonathan didn't stand out at all. And now all of a sudden he's a registered badass.

That bit with the gun, in the clocktower, he wasn't killing himself. A rifle is obviously not a suicide weapon, he's on a hunt, he was with the initiative. People think Buffy never came across them pre-S4 but it's all there.
