Question About Souls

I have a question about 'souls'. I put this thread in the S5 forum because it mainly revolves around Dawn being made as the key. Okay: To hide the key, the monks made it human, which created a soul for it (Dawn's soul). They were able to get exactly what they wanted into this soul, right? So my question is, if souls can be created in the Buffyverse by people, how come no-one tried re-creating Fred's soul in s5 of AtS? What do you think?
 
Well Dawn's soul was created a a completely new soul...it was probably in a way randomly created...they put what they wanted to into it and they got dawn...i dont think it would be possibly to create a soul from 'scratch' and have it be fred...they have no way to make it freds sould if they are just creating a soul...did that make ANY sense whatsoever?
 
Plus, Fred's soul was completely destroyed during Illyria's resurrection. It would've been hard to recreate her soul when there was nothing left.
 
Most of what I've been able to figure about whedonverse souls (via this site) is that a soul is an impersonal "thing", conjured up from who-knows-where. It only becomes personalized, unique when it becomes attached to a "being", human or otherwise. A human can't be a human without a soul, and a new soul isn't much of anything, besides raw material, without a "being" to attach to. The soul and the person (may) sort of grow together and influence eachother, creating a new "thing". If a personalized soul is destroyed, so is the person.

The only thing I wonder is, what actually becomes of a person when they die in the 'verse? Something of their personal essence is permanently attached to their soul, after death, I guess...It's a new soul/being creation...something...

I think you just said what I was tryign to say btu it made mroe sense than what I said. Haha. I'm still not making sense.
