Question about the baby

I missed a lot of episodes this season and started to watch again not too long ago.

My questions are who is the baby, where does he come from, why does Angel take care of him?
 
Connor is the baby of Darla and Angel from their rendez-vous last season. He was prophesized to die, but Darla killed herself to save him.
 
connor is totally adorable! he looks like his daddy 🙂 its so cute when he gurgles and whines and everything! hehe. i love connor!!!!

it was REALLY dramatic... Holtz is after them, and Darla's going into labor, but the baby doesn't seem to want to COME OUT! Figures since vampires aren't supposed to have children in the first place, right? And since Connor is HUMAN, Death can't give birth to life. So both Darla and the baby are dying in the birthing, so Darla slays herself, she turns to dust, and there's a baby lying there. it was VERY emotional.
 
so so so very draumatic. i miss darla 🙁 im glad the baby survived though. connor is so cute. and does anyone know why they chose the name connor for the baby? i was just wondering hehe

I don't know exactly, but Connor is a tradionally Irish name, and Angel being originally from Ireland, maybe he wants to embrace those roots?

Another, less plausibe theory is that he was named after one of the triplets that plays him, who happens to be named Connor. 🙂
