question about willow/magic/first

i know willow is afraid of using magic because she THINKS the first could get into her and also because she can go all evily
but i get the feeling that the first can get into her when she uses magic, i thought what happened with the locating spell was another thing

remember in Amends, when the first tells buffy that it is in every one, in every drop of hate, bla bla bla... i think willow used the locating spell and found the first in her, as it is in everyone but thought it was because of magic, could i be right?

I'm not particularly sure about that one.

Personally I think the First could only interfere because the spell was directly centered on it, and that it couldn't do anything more than say "Go away" to Willow in a somewhat 'look-at-me-I'm-evil' kind of way 😉

It didn't really seem to me that the First was able to harm Willow at that point - it's powers lie not in the physical world, and as such I doubt it has very little access to magic, if any at all. If it did control magic, it could have probably killed half the world with a big CGI-generated fireball 😛

I thought what happened when the First Evil appeared in Willow's locating spell was sort of a followup to the conversation with "Cassie" in "Conversations with Dead People": if you use your magic, BAD things will happen, etc. A deliberate scare tactic, since the last attempt didn't work as hoped. (Just speculating, though.)
