Question about Willow's arc in season 9

I was burned out after the season 8 comics so I never did more than skim the season 9 books in the store and look for scans online. And I feel like things were confused. Like in WIllow's tie in books we're supposed to believe her certainty the world needs magic back was selfishly motivated by her need to be important while the main book actually had her be correct, that without the Seed of Wonder the world was dying and humanity was much more limited, not creating anything worthwhile, for example
 
I agree it was handled poorly.

However, technically both can be true. Willow can do the right thing for the wrong reasons.

true enough. Still that kind of writing bugs me. It's a damn good thing for the world that Willow didn't have her epiphany BEFORE she went on her quest to restore magic. Maybe decide the reason why nothing seemed entertaining to her anymore was because she was depressed
