Question for those who collect ...

I've been thinking about this lately, and I'd like to pose it to those who are really into collecting Buffy/Angel/Firefly stuff ...

At what point (if at all) do you become too old to collect figurines, comic books, puppets, prop replicas, etc?

I'm 26, and I LOVE expanding my Buffy collection. I love putting together the figurines. But that said, I think I do get a bit of flack for it. You know, eye rolls, and crazy looks. It's like I should grow up and become an adult. Don't get me wrong, I have no intention of stopping because other people think it's stupid, but I was just curious about other collectors experiences with this? Does the same thing happen to you guys as well?
 
I don't think there's an age limit on collecting at all. People who aren't really "into" something probably don't get why people like collecting figurines and stuff.

I have comics, a few statues/busts, photos/posters and autographs. I've never gotten any weird looks really. Although when I went to Hallowhedon my brother-in-law kept making jokes to everyone and telling them I was off to my geek convention.
 
I don't think that age should have anything to do with whether you do or don't begin or continue collecting anything, whether it's Buffy memorabilia, baseball cards, or belly button lint, for that matter. If you enjoy it, if you can afford it, and if the collecting of whatever "it" might be causes no one else any distress or harm, then by all means collect yourself away. And if at all possible, find others who share your interests. You might be amazed to learn that you really aren't the oldest collector after all.

I know what you mean and i'm only 16! Especially my friends, they tell me i'm sad for collecting that stuff.. (I don't anymore really)
I was thinking about the same thing earlier in fact, i moved alot of my figures+comics and merchandise under my bed and in the wardrobe. :/
 
If you like it, then do it. I'm a comic book geek and proud of it. It's funny most of the people who gave me the most flack are the one's who want to read them now. Once the big superhero movies started coming out, they all seemed to want to read my comics. I told them to buy there own. Only true geeks like me, get to read my comics. 😀
 
I'm 23 and i enjoy the buffy stuff i collect. My collection isnt huge, its a couple of the tooned up statues, some busts of various demons, and a whoooole lot of books on buffy (not so much the fiction as the books that analyze the show, really love that stuff). yeah my brother and my boyfriend might roll their eyes at it, but i love the stuff. There's no shame there for me.
 
There is certainly not an age limit on collecting.

I collect Angel/Buffy stuff; mostly figures and trading cards, but also posters, signed photos, flyers, and adverts. I have so much stuff I'm considering getting a display case for all it. Like WA said; if you love it, can afford it, and have room for it - why not? I think collecting is great fun.
 
I don't believe in age limits when it comes to collecting. I do believe in changing your priorities tough, and I imagine that when people meet someone, maybe even have kids, or get a challenging and hard job, illnesses, whatever, they might not have room, money or time to collect. Or they simply think they have better things to do (which might have to do with society thinking it's time to "grow up" and stop collecting, so you'll stop because of that).

For now, I kinda had to stop collecting, but once I get a job (better job than what I have now) I'll probably start buying again, I just need more money.
 
I don't think you can be too old to collect memorabilia (i'm 22 and still just bought the ultimate collection trading cards set - it's so beautiful!) If anything I appreciate things like figures more now than I did when I was younger!

I absolutely LOVE collecting Buffy stuff, and I have no intention of stopping. Hey, I make my rent each month, pay my bills, and buy groceries ... if I have enough left over to spend it on something I love, in this case collecting Buffy stuff, why not?! Who's to judge me? LOL

I'm actually very proud of my little collection. I don't have a ton of stuff, but I do have a bit, mostly comics and books, and figurines.
