I'm working on a project for class so that's the reason that I'm asking this question. I want to market a sci fi tv series dvd boxset and I noticed that the U.K. often gets tv series dvd's first so that's the reason that I wanted to ask this question to you guys. Here's the question: What do you think are the reasons that you guys have to pay higher prices for your tv series dvd's (like Buffy, Angel, X-files, etc.) than we do in the U.S.? I remember talking to someone (not on this board) saying that syndication really wasn't a big thing in the U.K. and I was thinking that was maybe one reason. Here in the U.S. they tend to look at the ratings of tv show and after the show goes into syndication on another channel then they look at the possibility of a dvd. (That's just my theory.)
Syndication here means that another station buys the rights to a tv show and airs it on their station after the show has enough episodes to show continuously. I think that they like for a show to have at least 100 eps, but Rowell is an exception to the rule because sci fi bought the rights and I think that it only has 60 something episodes.
