Question to 6.12 and 6.16

Did Spike hatch these demon eggs to get money for Buffy??
Because in 6.12 he told her that he could get money and that she should stop working in the Doublemeatpalace.

Does anyone of you know??
 
I don't think the demon eggs had anything to do with Spike getting money for Buffy. That was just an example to show that even if he helps out the Slayer and does good deeds for her that he's still purely evil!
