I don't know if anyone here goes on youtube.com, but if anyone here does, do you know if you can save videos which others have been uploaded? I just really like Kelly Clarkson's performance of Shelter and was wondering if I could save it somehow so it doesn't matter when it eventually gets taken down by the user who posts it...

yeah i go on youtube sometimes but i never found out how to download the vids...so i guess we can't...but i can be wrong!
sorry that i can't help you +matt+.
i 'll wait for the answer like ya!

No, I think you're right, I go on youtube too, and I was trying to save a Postman Pat vid - hilarious I might add, to my pc, but I couldn't find a way to save it as it's played in a fash player. My brother had the clip on his phone but was missing the end of it so I was trying to find it so I could save it him.

If i like the vids on you tube, i just mark them in my favourites. never tried to download them.

I think you definitely can't download them. I tried and I tried but no way....

It is to my understanding that videos such as these are not impossible to get...just hard. You would have to go through a whole rigamarole to do it, and it just isn't worth the effort.

First of all it is difficult to find the right URL to the movie file. And then you get a file with no extension which turns out to be a Flash Movie file (.FLV).

You would have to use a so-called URL-sniffer, which tracks all network traffic on your PC and shows all URL's that pass by. And even then it would take a lot of guesswork to find the right URL and then use a download utility to actually download the file.

Then you would have to get a player to read the clips' file-type (again, .FLV).

Now I ask you, do you really wanna go through all that crap? 😛
