I watched the last snow scene of amends and a few things popped into my mind.

First, Angel has to feel bad that he couldn't even find a way to die. It makes you even more depressed when you try to commit suicide, but are prevented from doing so. Yeah, I realize it gave him added time to think about it, but it still has to make him feel bad that he couldn't do it. (and why didn't he just kill himself with a stake? Is there some sort of vampire legend that they can't do that?)

Second, as Buffy and Angel are walking down the street, we can hear the weather forecaster saying the temps are in the upper 30s. I believe that would cause rain, wouldn't it? We would still have no sun, but rain instead of snow.

Lastly, why in heaven's name is there a pair of shoes hanging from electrical wires?

I dont think there is a legend that vampires cant stake themselves but as shown by spike is season 4 (i think) when he tries to stake himself, he cannot. Its more that he doesnt have to will power to actually stke himself as its kind of instinct not to do so. I think that makes sense.

I think theres a thread about who made it snow in amends, or did the first make it snow in amends. Some people think the powers that be did to save angel. I think the fact that the weather forecaster said that was so the audience knew that the snow was unnatural, helping the theory that the powers that be made it snow, or some other unnatrual force.

I havent seen amends in a while and havent a clue as to why there were a pair of shoes hanging from electrical wires. sorry.

What bothers me about that episode is, if theres snow, its still daylight, it doesnt stop the sun coming up. It was still pitch black. I know it was really early but the forecaster said they should expect to not see the sun at all. That seems unlikely.

Lots of clouds?

I honestly don't care about how realistic this is. Cause it's not. At all. So I just liek it the way it is 😀

OK, if i remember correctly, Angel actually explains why he is going to let the sun do it...
He is a weak man. He hasn't the strength to take his own life, because its not the Vampire that he believes he needs to dispose of...its the man.
He is worried because the man in him wants Buffy, wants to lose himself in her, and he can't handle that, but at the same time, tat weakness is preventing him taking a stake to his heart....

Rain isn magical in Southern California at Christmas.
The whole point of the snow was to prove that Angel was needed in the world by something bigger then him, and that he had little choice in the matter. It also adds to the feel of the Chrsitmas feel of the episode, gives it an extra layer of beauty......

Ohh and the shoes, thats just simply because people like throwing shoes over hanging wires...any film set in New York will show a pair of shoes on high cables at least once...lol

As for the dark thing.
Well again, remember it was still just after dawn that was set. If the clouds were thick enough any natural light could still have been prevented from breaking through the clouds at that time of day. If the sun was in a higher part of the sky, i would have had a problem, but at 7am(ish).....not an issue at all.

Its just little details like that that bother me. clouds would still let sun through though. enough to kill a vampire anyway. you live in the Uk, you should understand 😛

I'd have to disagree on this. When we get a huge snow storm where I live there's not a spot of sun to be seen anywhere. When there's enough clouds the sun doesn't get through.

Hehe, well, I'm used to living in northern Sweden, where there's definitely no sun at all in December 😉
But Sunnydale isn't UK. Sunnydale is a made up city over a hellmouth, I'm quite sure anything can happen there.. Ok I see what you're saying about the weather guy.. But can't clouds shut out all sun? That doesn't sound too weird to me.. But yea, I guess these details have just stopped bothering me for some reason eh.

🙂

but it wont be pitch black though. and i think vamps would still feel it

But what is it from the Sun that causes the Vampire to 'dust'.......
I mean, if its just light, then artificial sunlight must have the smae effect...BUT, as i suspect, its the ultraviolet rays that are the cause, then the clouds would be a filter along with the O-Zone......so maybe that all adds.
I mean in the W&H offices we have windows that allow sunlight in, but don't affect the Vampire...

As DDLM said, I believe that it's the UV rays that dust vampires and not just light. Otherwise Vampires wouldn't be able to stand in any type of lit room.

At 7:00am in the middle of a severe snow storm is normal for it to be almost pitch black where I live. If the sun is just coming up then it makes sense that the clouds could completely block out any sunlight causing it to be dark.

Just my opinion from seeing it first hand where I live.

LOL! I have never noticed that. When I read it, all i can think about is the beginning of the movie Friday. They show that there are shoes on the electrical wire!

It doesn't have to look or feel like relistic. On the contrary, the episode is about unearthy powers are saving Angel from commiting suicide because he is still needed as a champion.

Most of the shoes hanging from wires in New York are from people that were assaulted and after the attackers are done they throw the victims shoes up on the wires.

Im just saying...
