I have been re-watching season 4 of Angel recently and came across an interesting question I had that some of you may help answer for me.

In "Slouching Towards Bethleham" how does Wes know that Lilah played him. I mean he sits on his bed and looks at the dollar bill he signed and suddenly realized she set him up. What gives it away to him or did I miss something.

One other thing that I wanted to add was...Am I the only one who wishes we could have had some more screen time to Wes's demon hunting team at the begininng of the season when he is running his own show. I always was curious about what they did and who those guys were. I know he had a guy inside at Wolfram & Hart and they rescued that guy from a hotel room, but I wanted to see more. Anybody else?

Well I took it as she did not care to take the bill, as kind of a symbol of their relationship she did not care, and he realised he was being used.

I haven't seen season 4 for quite a while so I can't really answer the first question you posed. As for the second bit about Wes's crew, I too would have liked to have seen a bit more of them in operation. It would have been good to have seen Wesley as commander of his own crew and becoming the bad@ss demon hunter he always wanted to be. Sort of highlighting just how far he'd come and that he did have plenty of resources on his own. As it was, he just slotted back into Angel's team in pretty much the same spot he'd been in for the past season and a half and his other group was forgotten.

Those are my thoughts exactly. He paid her the dollar because she called what they had a relationship, and then she just left it behind. Wes realized here that he was in fact being 'used'

And it's a damn shame, for Wes was better off without Angel.

Wes realized here that he was in fact being 'used'

I found Wes' attitude very hypocritical, because he tried to use his relationship with Lilah to spy for Angel in this very episode. In other words, he used her, as well. Lilah simply did him one better, because she guessed that he would try to eavesdrop on her business conversations . . . for Angel's benefit.

Yup exactly...and then Wes was 'discarded' carelessly, just like the dollar bill was so to speak.
