Questions?

Yep, we are planning this as a long term project for the boards, but as Kean said, we are still figuring things out.

But I think I gave pretty much safely say that you will be able to join in again at a later date, with, hopefully, brand new tutorials.
 
Sorry that was my fault - I meant to answer your question but lunch time ended and had to get back to work.

This will be long term - we don't know yet how often the cycles will run because it will depend on how many others want to take part as well. Because we are looking at this long term not everything has been planned out as we are feeling it out and learning along the way. If you keep an eye on this forum as well as the board news forum then you won't miss the next cycle of classes.

.:raises hand:. Alright, I'm really not trying to be a pain in the ass here, but I have a question about that: Why?

I understand this is Buffy-Boards and most of the art we're going to doing for our 'homework' and such is going be Jossverse related, of which I have no qualms. But do the submissions really have to be Jossverse if they're just showing our ability level?

The reason why I wonder is because I know, personally, that I haven't been making a lot of 'verse-y pieces lately and just posting the things that are 'verse-y isn't a very good judge of what level I'm at currently, mainly because I made a lot of my 'verse-y pieces a long time ago. I posted more than one submission in the thread, along with a couple that aren't 'verse-y because I feel they more accurately depict where I stand on the skill totem as of late.

I'm just saying, if we're submitting pieces to be weighted and judged, it shouldn't matter what fandom they are as long as we, as artists, feel that they are an accurate representation of the skill level we want to be placed at.

Like I said, not trying to be a pain in the ass, just wondering.

The reason we've agreed on this is because we're so strict with this rule in the actual art classes, and peoples art threads. We feel it would be counter productive to allowe people to post non-Josverse art in that thread, then deny them that right in their own threads.

This is Buffy-Boards. All the tutorials will be Jossverse related, and all the art submitted to be marked will also have to be Jossverse related. And as such, we think it would help us judge which level people should be put into if they submit Jossverse related art. I know it would help me judge.
 
I have two questions:

1. I recently learned some new techniques. Would it be okay if I posted a new banner in the submissions thread so that those techniques can be considered?

2. Will class participants be able to suggest class topics for techniques, tools, and effects that they'd like to learn?
 
The beginner class is for those that have never done anything before or for those that have done a bit but are not confident and want to start at the beginning.

That is why we are asking for submissions so we can judge what levels to put people in.

You have to understand that the artists doing these tutorials may not know the techniques that are suggested. We have to work on what the tutors know. We all aquire more skills, everyday we learn something new, so the tutorials will reflect that.

I thought so to, but then I wondered if I was getting confused with BB BB. (the Big Brother thing).

Just thought it was a little strange that the idea came to surface almost 2 months ago and still nothing. I understand that lots of people will be busy over Christmas and the (southern hemisphere) summer holidays so it's probably not the best time to start for awhile.

Yeah, I think it's just that Christmas came at the most inconvenient time - it might have started earlier otherwise.

Yeah we're definitely still working on things. Each class needs a tutor and a tutorial. We've divided students into their classes, so we're on the brink of beginning. Always remember that good things come to those who wait 😉

We are *this* close to being ready to open but with Christmas next week it does not make sense to start until after then. The initial announcement was to gather interest and see who wanted to take part as we could not really plan it until we knew what we were dealing with.

Normally when we annouce things are going to happen it is because we have been working on it in the background first.

Patience....it is coming 🙂

so they will teach us how to make banners and all that?

Im somewhat of a slow learner and am horrid at computers....but Im willing to learn and love homework so lets do it!
