1. After SHS is destroyed in the season finale, why doesn't it ever get torn down? What an eyesore. What/where is the new location of SHS?
2. Who replaces the Mayor? Since "the authorities" are all aware of Sunnydales's "supernatural nature" (there's an oxymoron for you!), can I assume that most of the residents knew about it, too?
3. When Spike shares his pain (over Dru) with Joyce, was that his first time in the Summers home? Who invited him in? (I can't remember...)

These questions still burn in me, even though I'm all the way in Season 5...Every time I see a shot of the blown-up high school, I wonder.

SHS does eventually get torn down because they built the new school over it in s7. This is explained once they show the new school (that Dawn attends) in s7. We know it is built on top of the old highschool because we are shows the blue prints, the hellmouth that used to be under the library is now under the principal's office. I'm guessing it just took the city a while to get the money to re-built everything, and just condoned the ruins in the meanwhile.

2. Who replaces the Mayor? Since "the authorities" are all aware of Sunnydales's "supernatural nature" (there's an oxymoron for you!), can I assume that most of the residents knew about it, too?

I don't think they ever tell who replaces the Mayor. I don't think people knew about the supernatural, really they were all shown to be a bit clueless, although I'm sure they must have at least doubted that something was up in Sunnydale. But again, if you grow in such an environment, you might not think anything is abnormal.

3. When Spike shares his pain (over Dru) with Joyce, was that his first time in the Summers home? Who invited him in? (I can't remember...)

I don't remember this either :S someone else can probably clarify better than I can.

I don't know if it was temporary or simply a completely different highschool, but she is shown in high school in "The Body" in s5, and is shown a few times with school friends, so yes, I would assume she just attended a different school, or a temporary school location for a while.

I'm a few episodes away from "The Body". After an 8-episode marathon of Buffy when I was coming down with a flu and couldn't sleep, I'm taking a break from the show and will resume watching in a day or two.

I hear Spike brings over flowers, but Xander gets rid of him. I KNOW I'm going to cry when I see Joyce, and when I see Spike getting sent away, and when I see Buffy and Dawn struggling... :cry4:

Buff invited him last season when she made a truce with him to help stop Angelus in exchange for Buffy allowing him and Dru to skip town.

Dawn attends another high school in the town (and middle school). Sunnydale, for all it's 'small town' mentality, is actually not a small town at all, considering it's got it's own University of California campus, it's own beach, forest, airport and docks. It makes sense that there would be other high school.

Actually, we know there are other high school within the town limits, as Joyce, at the beginning of S3, mentions trying to find Buffy a new school, and, in 'Some Assembly Required' they find the newspaper reports about the deaths of the cheerleaders from another high school.

It's never stated who took over from The Mayor.

Spike's invitation to Buffy's home was granted by Buffy herself when she and Spike teamed up to take down Angelus in 'Becoming PT2' at the end of S2. This invitation wasn't rescinded until the S5 episode 'Crush'. Up until that point, Spike had an all access pass to the Summers' home. His invitation was granted again in 'The Gift'.

You guys are SO right! See, this is what happens when I watch too many episodes at once...They all start to blend together and I forget some details. The end of Season 2 is also when they tell Joyce that they are in a band together, and Spike claims that Buffy is "hell on the old skins". (Hilarious too me, since I was a drummer in high school.)
