Quit making the comics

Nothing is 100% safe. Except from a few peole who actully tries to take your money there´s also the post office. Things can get lost. Sure there´s insurance if you want to have that. But keep to the more known sellers and you should be fine. Just make sure they ship to your country.
 
eBay is a good place, but you have to do some things to help yourself out.
Like look at the feedback. 100% positive, is obviously good. But, reading the feedback also helps. See how happy people are. When things arrive quickly and safely and they are good sellers, the buyers will leave GLOWING feedback. I'd be wary of people with less than 98% positive feedback if spending any sort of real money. (I'd say over $20)
I wish I had my comic shop's eBay id handy. I'd trust them to take the kids for the weekend. They're just good people.

You do have to look at the feedback though. EBay is trying to weed out the bad sellers, but they haven't hit them all yet.

ALSO, READ THE TERMS. Some people put some sneaky things in there and/or crazy shipping prices. If you have any questions, ask before you place a bid. NEVER buy if they don't have shipping prices or a calculator and won't answer your questions about shipping.

Well I mean the reason the comics are canon IS because Joss is in charge and writes them right? That's what canon means, that the ultimate power behind the show says this is the way it is. So yeah I mean the comics are canon because Joss writes them, otherwise no, i wouldn't care at all, there is plenty of great fanfic out there to serve that purpose and its free.

I KNOW they won't... I am simply pointing out MY opinion. I know many people like the comics, and I know they won't make a new season. It's MY opinion, and I am in my right to feel that way.

Sorry for my...you know, but I just think it's quite unfair to be bashed for what I feel. 🙁
 
I just wish we would get a trilogy of movies and I would be happy. Buffy doesn't need to be on tv again!

I already received the comics that I've ordered.
I also read 1-17 of Buffy It was quite interesting. I guess I do love the TV series but its better to have comics than nothing...
I finished reading it all and I want more of it.
About Spike i also have 2 copies of it and I do like it. I guess I have to wait until they produce more
About Angel... I only have 5 copies of it I guess dont have luck on it coz i dont like some parts of it...

I have to get the comics from online retailers, because there is a very small selection of comics in Estonia. I order my stuff from TFAW and the shipping really is a bitch. One issue costs $2.69+$0.25 (bag & board) and the shipping is $8.21. If I order 6 issues (for example) the shipping fee is still $8.21. Therefore I wait a few months and then order the comics. I'm guilty of downloading the comics so luckily I get to read the issues when they come out.
 
I like the comics because they are something more than nothing but I totally agree. Give me live action, give me animation or give me comics as long as it is something 🙂
 
I loved the comics when they first came out, despite not being big on comics at all. I think in some ways I would have prefer Joss written books. So I bought all the comics the day they were released and read them back to front, then all of a sudden I started finding it really hard to keep up with this Fray crossover stuff because I was never into it. I don't want to get into Fray to be able to enjoy Buffy. (and yes, if I made the effort with Fray I'd probably love it, but I just don't have the energy!)

I don't really like the direction that Season 8 has gone in. I find it to epic, hard to follow and a tad unbelievable. Despite my dislike for the comics and my wanting to forget that Season 8 never happened, I understand that so many people are really into it and really enjoy seeing what could have happened without the constraints of money and realism.

I don't think I would want the TV series back, I have built Buffy up to be something so important and meaningful to me that I would be terrified of being disappointed.

Maybe that's what has happened with the comics to a lot of people that aren't overly keen on it?
 
The only problems I've had with the comics are the bits that, in my opinion, don't flow well from the show cannon. Frey for instance is thrown in with not much introduction because as comic readers we're expected to know her. I however have ONLY read season 8 and AtF buffy comics so I'd really like an introducton to Frey like they would have done on BTVS if they'd introduced her there.

Minor annoyance to the Buffy isn't strait anymore after 7 seasons of overall great relationships. I mean yeah there was drama, but not more than most relationships I've had. Just a different kind (what with 2/3s of here bfs being, well...dead.)

Yes I know she's still supposedly strait, but really? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm ashamed to say I enjoyed the Centaur-Dawn blatant fanservice. :blush:

I agree that in comic books there are definitely what I would refer to as "format conceits", one of which is that characters do come in and out without the buildup and expectation that you get on TV.

This is a pretty common thing in comics, so a regular reader just takes it in stride, but those new to the format often pull up short and say "Whoa, wait, who the heck is this person and do I know them?!" It's something that writers have done for decades to add interest or hook a cliffhanger ending, to ensure that the reader buys next month's issue when it comes out. I cannot tell you how many times my husband has finished an issue of some comics title or another and say "Holy sh*t! They're bringing back [insert name here]? Really?!"

For a reader like me, I don't know who the character is, I don't have the time to dig up the back story, so I trust the writer to put all the relevant bits of the character into the current storyline for me.

I can completely understand how that would frustrate a new reader - someone who is used to TV format conceits or novels.

That was really well-said! At first the comic books were fine, but after I finished the first issue, I was just... really disappointed in them. I'd have preferred if Joss hadn't written them at all. And the fact that the comics just seem to be out for marketing strategies (i.e. Buffy's hasty choices, which are COMPLETELY out of character) and the entire thing has just been strenuous for me. Yeah, I still read them, but they just.... they're lackluster. They suck, to be direct.
Now the Angel comics, on the other hand, are AMAZING. Just what I've wanted to read.
 
And, I like the big floaty fish!

I haven't gotten very far in the Buffy comics, just the first 10 or so. I'm only reading the Tpb's. But, I do like the Angel ones. I really kind of need them to come out quicker....or to have a "previously on Angel" so that I don't have to have my last one there to read the next one.

Did I mention I like Betta George?
 
Well, if it meant we could get a movie or something, if they stopped making the comics then yeah, I am all for that. But sadly mate, i don't see it happening, all we have are these comics to put balance to our Buffy addiction, and i don't even read them. Not saying i ever wont, i can picture myself reading them sometime in the future, if they don't ever make a Buffy/Angel movie ever.

If I was hearing correctly, Joss said during the Paley Festival that if they were all reunited some parts of the comics (or comics in general) would become non-canon. NOT 100% sure about this, but I've watched it about 5 times now and I think that's what he said. Pretty sure.
 
I don't think he said that the comics would become non-cannon just that he wouldn't mind putting the comics on hold if he could everyone together to do another Buffy project.

I've had the chance to view this canon/non-canon issue from a new perspective recently, because one of my favourite musicals -- The Phantom of the Opera -- is getting a sequel next year that's, by general fandom consensus, almost entirely certain to cheapen the original. I'm making more allowances for Buffy: Season 8 and Angel: After the Fall so far, because it's Joss and because a respectable chunk of it has been a return to form, but if he screws it up, like Andrew Lloyd Webber is doing with another beloved story of mine? I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep taking advantage of the continuation's disposable-canon status and, y'know, disposing of it.
