Inspired by the tv show QI on bbc I thought I'd create a thread for people to share interesting and surprising facts that they know about things:
Here are a few to get things started:
1) the human body is comprised of 10 times as many bacteria cells compared to human cells.
2) the human body completely regenerates all its cells of all organs and tissues within a span of 8 years, so your physical body is composed of material at most 8 years old.
3) the fastest greyhounds can reach speeds up to 70mph, about as fast as a Cheetah
4) Snails don't need to mate inorder to reproduce
5) Rabbits were only introduced into Britain in the late 1800's and have spread over the whole of the British Isles in that short space of time
6) Britain is one of the few countries whose land area covered by woods and forests is actually increasing rather than decreasing.
