ok i have a question. what do people consider to be the best quotes from the show. i have put this in the season six because i want the answers to encompass all season till the end of season 6. I am not asking people which quote they thought the funniest, but what was the most powerful thing said in the show in peoples mind. I have to say that my choice is in my tag line

"understand we'll go hand in hand but we'll walk alone in fear"
from season six 'once more with feeling' said by all the scooby gang.

alltime Favourite Quote:

"the Hardest thing in the World is to Live in it" - Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer 5.22 "the Gift"

"I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's, (sniffling) there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid. (still teary) And, and Xander's crying and not talking, and, and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why. " - Anya "The Body"

Most powerful thing ever said on the show. I can't even read it without getting teary!

"There's moments in your life that make you, that set the course of who you're gonna be. Sometimes they're little, subtle moments. Sometimes... they're not. Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are. You'll see what I mean."

Season 2: Episode - Becoming Pt I

wow these are great, that last one was a funny ne, but its ok. I just love the powerful meaningful parts of the show, the fact that despite it being fictional and a tv show it reflects real life in so many ways, it analyses it, studies it, portrays it and it even teaches its audience about it. I love it.

"Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting.. and though unwanted; unbidden.. it will stir.. open its jaws, and howl. It speaks to us, guides us.. passion rules us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love, the clarity of hatred.. and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank.. without passion, we'd be truly dead."
-- Angelus, "Passion"

That is the monologue that hit me the hardest. The voiceover was so incredibly creepy, and the whole episode was just so much to think about.. it will always be my favourite quote.

You know what? I was wrong. You are an idiot. My life happens to, on occasion, suck beyond the telling of it. Sometimes more than I can handle. And it's not just mine. Every single person down there is ignoring your pain because they're too busy with their own. The beautiful ones. The popular ones. The guys that pick on you. Everyone. If you could hear what they were feeling. The loneliness. The confusion. It looks quiet down there. It's not. It's deafening. -Buffy to Jonathan in "Earshot"

We have one more award to give out. Is Buffy Summers here tonight? Did she, um... This is actually a new category. First time ever. I guess there were a lot of write-in ballots, and, um, the prom committee asked me to read this: We're not good friends. Most of us never found the time to get to know you, but that doesn't mean we haven't noticed you. We don't talk about it much, but it's no secret that Sunnydale High isn't really like other high schools. A lot of weird stuff happens here. But, whenever there was a problem or something creepy happened, you seemed to show up and stop it. Most of the people here have been saved by you, or helped by you at one time or another. We're proud to say that the Class of '99 has the lowest mortality rate of any graduating class in Sunnydale history. And we know at least part of that is because of you. So the senior class, offers its thanks, and gives you, uh, this. It's from all of us, and it has written here, "Buffy Summers, Class Protector." -Jonathan to Buffy in "The Prom"

Like I can only pick just one.

k, my favourite are already on here so i'm not gonna repeat them. Its Anyas teary speech about death in 'The Body' as quoted by Diminished 9th and FivebyFiveB's quotes of Jonathan at the Prom and Xandes in Potential (re. by the FbFB's banner.).

I just think Anyas confusion just summs up into words what we feel when someone loved dies. We just don't understand why.
And Buffy being appreciated by her school mate - how moving!!!
As for Dawnie, she's grown up a lot and Xander has too which the both proved in Potential.

The sad episodes are my favourite!!!

Giles: To forgive is an act of compassion, Buffy. It's, it's not done
because people deserve it. It's done because they need it.

-I Only Have Eyes For You; Season 2

That quote always really got to me. It was deep on a level that went beyond just he context of the show.

The most powerful quote is from "Prophecy Girl" when Buffy is talking to Giles about only being 16 years old and not wanting to die.... this quote just sets up the whole rest of the series because of the danger that buffy has to face from then on.

Just the crying and the heaving of books at Giles is powerful enough, and the words make it better.

Buffy: I'm beyond tired. I'm beyond scared. I'm standing on the mouth of hell, and it is gonna swallow me whole. And it'll choke on me. We're not ready? They're not ready. They think we're gonna wait for the end to come, like we always do. I'm done waiting. They want an apocalypse? we'll give 'em one. Anyone else who wants to run, do it now. 'Cause we just became an army. We just declared war. From now on, we won't just face our worst fears, we will seek them out. We will find them, and cut out their hearts one by one, until The First shows itself for what it really is. And I'll kill it myself. There is only one thing on this earth more powerful than evil, and that's us. Any questions?

Season 7...this is a very powerful speach which buffy made and my jaw was dropping as she read it.

I'm quite partial to the Class Protector quote as well as this one

"Spike : Oh, someone put a stake in me.

Xander : You got a lot of volunteers in here.

Spike : I just can't take all this mamby-pamby boo-hooing about the bloody indians.

Buffy : Uh, the preferred term--

Spike : You won. All right? You came in and you killed them and you took their land. That's what conquering nations do. It's what caesar did, and he's not going around saying, "I came, I conquered, I felt really bad about it." The history of the world isn't people making friends. You had better weapons, and you massacred them. End of story." ~ Pangs

That's great, I love it!

I like Deviant Warlock's choice so much, I'll post the whole thing

"You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children, it's blood... blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."

This is, in my opinion the best quite, because its so simple, its from 'The Gift'

BUFFY: I loved him so much. But I knew ... what was right. I don't have that any more. I don't understand. I don't know how to live in this world if these are the choices. If everything just gets stripped away. I don't see the point. I just wish that... (tearfully) I just wish my mom was here.

Ok, hard question.

SPIKE: Uh ... I do remember what I said. The promise. To protect her. If I had done that ... even if I didn't make it ... you wouldn't have had to jump. But I want you to know I did save you. Not when it counted, of course, but ... after that. Every night after that. I'd see it all again ... do something different. Faster or more clever, you know? Dozens of times, lots of different ways ... Every night I save you.

This just made me cry and cry. *sob*

Oh--- another one.

When Buffy and Spike and fighting in "Smashed"

Buffy throws Spike against the wall and they are yelling and Spike looks at her and says....

"I'm in love with you" all gruffy and it's so great. I just love it!
