R.I.P."Rowdy" Roddy Piper

Well as a big fan of old school Pro Wrestling this is very sad for me to hear. Hot Rod was one of the most distinct and timeless wrestling characters of them all, and a rare one to actually have a decent none-wrestling career. 61 is way too young for such a legend to bow out, wrestling and Entertainment is a poorer place without him. RIP. And I'm off to watch classic RRP wrestling😛
 
My heart is broken. Piper is my childhood personified. So sad.

From what I saw of him in interviews he genuinely seemed like a nice guy ( as a lot of wrestling stars were back then). Somebody who was warm and didn't take themselves too seriously.
He will be missed. I'll watch 'They Live.' tomorrow night in tribute.
 
Man this is sad. Another tough week for wrestling. Far too many of them leaving us too soon. Wwe probably won't even be able to give him a proper send off and tribute given that they're trying to erase Hogan from history.

That's the impression I got too, just a great guy who will be sadly missed. Might have to search out They Live myself.

I loved that line. And I loved the (what felt like 3 hour long) fight with him and Keith David in the alley. 😀
Still such a relevant film too, I reckon.

It was the eighties. Where men could fight in alleys, for what seemed like hours!
See, I'm not huge on wrestling. Although I do know Jerry Lawler from Man on the Moon. Good shit.
 
Yeah Lawler was one of the great heels in his day although at that stage he was a great face actually.
 
I still use one of his quotes every time I surprise someone.
"Just when they think they have all the answers, I change the questions."

I still wish wwe(f) used made a legitimate attempt to have him teach the young guns

That is a point actually because they have had quite a few ex-wrestlers as trainers but he seems to be one of the no-brainers who they didn't use as a trainer, maybe the timing was always off with Piper, cause I know they used him a fair bit on television post-retirement so don't think the two had any big issues.
