Well I've seen her in one of her biggest roles and she wasn't a home-wrecker, bimbo or loser in the The O.C. She was portrayed as a 'bimbo' type character for all of maybe 3-5 episodes and then she steals the show as the complete opposite of everything described of her characters above.

The only thing I've ever seen her in is "The Last Kiss". She was a little homewrecker in that movie but I didn't find anything wrong with her. Didn't think much of her at all actually. She doesn't really stand out in any way.
But just cause someone always plays the same type of role doesn't mean they suck or should be vomited on. For example, Jennifer Aniston is Rachel Green in every movie she makes but people still seem to love her.

I don't have any problem with Rachel Bilson, but I doubt she's going to be the mother. They're only in season 5, and the whole catch with this show is that by the end of the series, you'll find out who the mother is. Honestly I see this show going on at least for a few more years, so it's very unlikely to me that you can say with any certainty that someone introduced in season 5 will be the mother. It could be. Bilson could be a "fake out" for now, and then end up being the mother, but so could just about anyone else Ted has dated or will date in the following seasons.
