Rain Making

It seems a bit risky, but then part of the reason our current weather is messed up is that we messed with the planet, so maybe it's worth trying to repair a little.

However, I have read before that cloud-seeding is a zero-sum game: if you get the rain to drop on your area, it means some area farther away is not going to get rain they might otherwise have had.

I don't know much about this but I had heard of it years ago, didnt they use the cloud seeding thing at one of the Olympics? To make sure it didnt rain on the stadium or something? I dont remember exactly but I know this has been going on for years.

Russia used cloud seeding after the Chernobyl disaster to prevent the radioactive cloud from getting to Moscow. There were a large number of birth defects and cancer cases in Ukraine and Belarus after that. This was all covered up in typical Soviet fashion.

Weather is pretty short term and already chaotic. I think modest experimentation would be the best route, and as we learn more, we can try more. After all, being able to stop tsunamis or hurricanes is knowledge worth seeking

Considering the sprawl of homes over prime farm land here, we're going to need to change where the rain hits so that other parts of the land become more useful to feed us.

Agreed.

Unfortunately trying to stop Tidal Waves or Hurricanes has usually caused greater destruction. If they could get it right then fair enough but in the meantime people keep being killed.
