Random Cool trips?

So I have been skipping college for a week or so with 2 friends and yesterday we decided to take it up a notch and newxt wedneday afternoon fly to Paris, get some food, have a fun night, hit the eiffel tower in the morning and fly home that evening.

Just so we could use the sentence "I went to paris for dinner last night"

Anyone else done cool little random trips?
 
me and my friends do it all the time. we're out for dinner, we're bored and don't wanna go home yet, one of us picks a destination and we drive. ended up in Dublin, once, lol, but nowhere as random as Paris yet, but give us time, i'm sure we'll get there!
 
I wish!

I would love to take off just for the sake of doing so. Though admittedly, I've driven up through the ins and out of my current hometown at 3am one night because I didn't feel like sleeping....

As much as I love Australia, sometimes it's just too much effort to get somewhere...well for me anyway.
 
Yeah i wish too, but then again im only 16, so maybe when im older I'll comback to this. It would be so cool though to just fly somewhere have dinner and be back and be able to say "I went to ______ for dinner last night" :biggrin:
 
Random trip to Paris... man, that sounds cool. 😀

Closest we ever did was the day we accidentally drove to Newry. Our first indicator that we'd gotten very, very lost was when we all got texts welcoming us to Vodafone UK. That's an adventure born of idiocy rather than impulse though. : erm :

We went for a drive a few days ago, and ended up at Dublin Port. Came close to jumping on the next ferry for the sake of it then. Work the next day and all but... honestly, I would have done it if any one of the others were in. I kind of wish I had more adventurous friends, sometimes...
 
Random Trips? Well yes just last month actually. My boyfriend, Ryan, and I took a quick drive to Des Moines, Iowa from Chicago, Illinois. We just went to Des Moines for the night to attend the night time horse races at Prairie Meadows and drove back to Chicago the next day. It was fun trip. I got to see a lot of my friends and even got in a win picture with a horse I used groom.
 
My friend and I had 'road trips' in high school all the time! We'd be bored and just decide to drive on the highway for awhile, get off on a random exit in the middle of nowhere, and then find our way back using the backroads. Hours of fun! Actually, there's not alot to do when you are 16-17 and do not want to hang out with all the stoners and, well, get stoned. Good thing I'm 21 now and can go get drunk instead!!! (just kidding)

Seriously, we had good times in that 96 grand am of hers. Lots of bonding...and thoughts of Texas Chainsaw when we got lost in a field somewhere at night....
 
Paris was savage! We went had breakfast near the Arc de Triomphe, then explored and then went to the Eiffel Tower at night and then to dinner in Paris then out drinking, and then shopping before going home and then back to college like 9 hours later, it was just awesome!

We plan to make this a regular thing, like head to Italy and Spain, etc. I also really wanna go to the states to load up on box sets and Abercrombie!!
 
If I had the money I'd take random trips all the time...probably to Ireland which isn't so much random as it is a deep desire to go there...
 
It's 'cause we're so wonderful here. And modest, too! :cheering:


This thread was at least part of the reason I'm going to London. 😀
 
My husband and I are planners; we always want to make sure we have enough money and time to take our trips. But about a year ago we did just randomly decide to drive an extra hour and a half up I-81 to go to Natural Bridge State Park, since I'd never seen it. It was fun and spontaneous.
 
Speaking of lesbos, my friends, always want to ask me how things are going, discreetly, so they say "soooo, hows it going...on the island of...lesbos?"
 
Well... for some reason I get this weird need to travel to Edinburgh like every 2 weeks... it's strange that isn't it? 😉

Hee hee... yup. We only really know one in Edinburgh. It's called CC Blooms and it's a cute little place. There are others I hear... we'd have to check them out when you and joamna come over... 😉
 
I now want to visit Lesbos...I looked it up on Wiki and it looks like a good holiday destination...thanks ladies 🙂

Yeah I really hope we can afford it at some point, god I don't even know if I'll afford to go to my parents for christmas 🙁
 
Yea, I really hope we'll both have time and money at some point, would be so much fun! Both for Lesbos and Edinburgh, heh 🙂
