I just thought this would be fun to start on the new year. Each day I will post a random holiday or event that happened that day. Everyone else can add too if you have more funny events, etc.

On January 1st of course we know it is the new year but did you know that today the 1st Cheese factory was opened.
In 1851, an American dairyman named Jesse Williams established America's first cheese factory, near Rome, N.Y.

I actually wnat a calendar like this. It was mentioned on Pushing Daisies (apparently that day was national "Hello" day) and I just think it would be awesome. Anyone know if it actually exists?

Xander - I saw this idea on Pushing Daisies too. I want a calender like this too but I could not find one so I am improvising. :lmao:
 
In Bulgaria we have a lot of Name Day's ( for lots of saints for example) 1st of January is Vassilevden, 6st of January is Ivanovden. Which translated means Day of Vassil and Day of Ivan. The celebration is simple: you don't have to call beforehand the person who is having a Name's Day. You have the liberty to go there and he's bound to give you treats if that's the word and in return you give them a little symbolic present. 🙂
