We've always done polls ranking the shows, so what about ranking them between the two shows? (we may have done this before but not recently)
Just of the seasons on TV and a reason for that position
1 is higest (most liked) 12 is lowest (least liked)

1 - Buffy season 3 - strongest overall arc, all the characters at their finest (Buffy a hero, Willow learning magic, the scoobies friendship, Giles having a place, Angel and Buffy, Spike only in 1 episode)
2 - Angel season 2 - loved this season of Angel, loved the friendships and the storyline was great
3 - Buffy Season 5 - I just love season 5
4 - Angel season 3 - I find it hard to distinguish season 2 and 3 of Angel, I think both seasons really kept the same momentum
5 - Angel season 5 - didn't like how it ended but I enjoyed the season, it made Spike likeable also.
6 - Buffy season 7 - If I had a version of season 7 without all the Spike, it would be a lot higher, brilliant story but the story didn't get enough screen time.
7 - Buffy Season 4 - I like season 4, but found the bad guy underwhelming
8 - angel season 1 - I love season 1 of angel, but I think the show got stronger in 2 and 3, but can't fault season 1
9 - Buffy season 2 - some of the best stories, but some real bland ones that drag it down
10 - Angel season 4 - Has some fantastic episodes, my favourite episodes (orpheus, and the Faith arc), but overall a little weak.
11 - Buffy season 1 - Only low cuz it's so dated
12 - Buffy season 6 - very weak season, the characters stopped being the characters I loved

I've never done such a ranking! Very interesting!

1)Buffy s6 (It's the one that I most definitely watch the most)
2)Buffy s5 (Just great season overall, it had one of my favorite plot)
3)Angel s1 (Doyle is in this one! and Kate, I just really like this one)
4)Angel s2 (Like s1 but with a better plot, ranks lower just based on characters)
5)Buffy s3 (Feels like this one should be higher, it was an awesome season)
6)Angel s3 (Like BEG, it's hard to distinguish between this one and s2 quality wise)
7)Buffy s4 (This one has grown on me)
8)Buffy s2 (Has a LOT of awesome episode, but overall had some weak points also)
9)Buffy s7 (I actually love this season, but too many distractions and plotholes, love the slayer mythology though!)
10)Buffy s1 (This one is so low simply because it only had 12 episodes)
11)Angel s5 (I haven't seen this one in a while, from what I remember it was a great season, but the W&H setting felt a bit weird)
12)Angel s4 (Good episodes, but the plots I'm just not a fan of)

1. Buffy Season 3. Contains some of my favourite episodes in the entire series run (Graduation Day and The Wish spring to mind), has my favourite big bad, and has my favourite arc of the series.

2. Buffy Season 2. My second favourite arc, also has a lot of awesome moments such as Spike's first appearance and the Angelus arc, which culminated with Becoming, one of my favourite episodes.

3. Angel Season 5. Definitely my favourite season of Angel. Has some great moments, the Angel/Spike rivalry is a joy to watch, and the finale was just excellent.

4. Angel Season 2. The whole arc of Angel going dark was brilliant, and it was great seeing more of Angel's past.

5. Angel Season 3. I enjoyed the Holtz plot line, having a figure of Angel's past coming back to haunt him, and the start of Wesley's road down the path of darkness.

6. Buffy Season 1. Some of the episodes are a bit dated, yes, but overall I find this season fun to watch and it has some great character moments.

Tied 7. Buffy Season 5/Angel Season 1. Wasn't sure which one to put first. Buffy Season 5 is great, but is let down by Dawn being annoying. Angel Season 1 is also great, but was just finding it's feet as a separate entity from Buffy.

8. Angel Season 4. The whole 'Cordelia going evil' plotline came out of nowhere and felt really contrived, but the last few episodes are great and has some great moments such as Faith's return and the episodes with Gwen.

9. Buffy Season 7. The finale was excellent, and had some cool moments spread throughout, but the potential slayers and Andrew dragged things down a notch.

10. Buffy Season 4. Felt a bit underwhelming off the heels of Season 4, wasn't too big on Adam and The Initiative. But there was some episodes that were great.

11. Buffy Season 6. Just the weakest season overall. The plot just didn't really go anywhere until the end where Willow went dark, and The Trio were just weak as the big bad.

Angel Season 3-This season has EVERYTHING,so wonderful 🙂
Angel season 2-Dark Angel, heavy character progression for Wesley,Angel,Cordy, and Gunn. Introduction of Fred and Lorne. Two episodes with Anne 🙂 and of course TONS of Wolfram & Hart including favorite 3 W&H characters (Lilah,Holland, and Lindsey) 🙂
Angel season 5--Stellar individual episodes, hilarious Angel/Spike,great character based eps (lineage,Destiny,Life of the party,A whole in the world), heart breaking losses with Wesley,Lindsey,Cordy, and Fred. The return of Sajahn,Conner,Darla, and Drusilla , and the introduction of Illyria, and in my opinion the greatest finale to any series, brilliant 🙂
Buffy season 5-Packed with more emotion and heart break then any other season of Buffy, amazing comedic moments, great character progressions, stellar individual episodes. This season has it all for me.
Angel season 4-The beast,Angelus,Faith,evil Cordy,Dark Wesley,immense arc,and permanent midnight-I know many don't love it,but I do..great season
Buffy season 6- I think the character stories and arcs of this season are great. The story arc is interesting as is the theme of life being the ultimate "villain". I love both Warren and Dark Willow as the "Big Bad". Also love the trio, very funny. It is possibly the only season of Buffy to rival the darkness and the adult themes of Angel the series.
Angel season 1- Great introduction to Angel, angel investigations, and Wolfram & Hart. I love Doyle, and love Wesley's comical intro into the Angel series. 😛 It has great episodes and I think one of the top 5 series premiers i have seen anywhere on tv. 🙂 I love the Faith redemption story, and the arc of the relationship between Kate and Angel as well as Kate's father. Only reason it rates low is the lack of an arc,and I would've liked way more Wolfram & Hart focus.
Buffy season 2-Great arc and IMO the best villain of the Buffy series. Wonderful character progressions, and tastefully dark while also being comically light, great mixture. A few below average eps,but over all its amazing.
Buffy season 4-HILARIOUS,easily for me the very funniest season of Buffy the Vampire slayer. Chipped Spike, two crossovers with Angel, and the introduction of my favorite Buffy character, Tara; there is nothing here not to like Okay, the arc isn't the best but stellar isolated single episodes like Hush,Something blue, and Restless;overall a fun season but lacking a great villain.
Buffy season 3-This season has so much in it. The mayor,Faith,Wesley. Yet,it doesn't really jump out at me. I know I'm in the minuscule minority with my opinion of Buffy season 3,but I never really understand what was so great. Still, great episodes, very funny, and quite emotional at times..overall a very good season.
Buffy season 1-I like this season a lot. The monsters aren't great, the stories are kind of lack luster, but still the characters and dialogue are terrific and funny.
Buffy season 7-I like the start of this season, but overall for me it failed almost every test of what had traditionally made the series so wonderful.

1) Angel S2 - Such a good season, the characters, friendships and story-lines were great. This is by far the season I rewatch and enjoy the most.
2)Angel S3 - Very strong season, and the Connor/Holz story was wonderful.
3) BTVS S3 - SO good, the whole season was exciting and enjoyable.
4)BTVS S2 - Some of my favorite episodes are from this season.
5)BTVS S1 - Quirky and fun season.
6) Angel S1 - Fun to see the start of AI, W&H introduction was strong. They did a good job of introducing Angel as its own show.
7)BTVS S4 - Adam wasn't executed well, but I liked the idea behind it. (And RILEY!)
8) BTVS S5 - Dawn was the low part of the season for me.
9) Angel S5 - Wasn't the strongest season, and the Spike/Angel banter grew tired at times but I enjoyed it overall. Drusilla was neat development.
10) Angel S4 - I have mixed feelings about the whole Jasmine/Connor/Cordy thing' not sure if I like it or hate it. This season leaves me forever confused. lol.
11) BTVS S7 - Messy season at times, and it was sad to see Willow, Xander and Giles as wallflowers.
12) BTVS S6 - Ugh, the Trio was beyond lame...they ruined the season for me.

1.)Buffy Season 2. - The best and most influential season of the entire verse. Its effects are still felt in canon today. The stakes (no pun intended) were never so high nor consequences so widely felt.

2.)Buffy Season 3 - Fantastic season, not a bad episode in the bunch. Fantastic arc and some of the best stand alones we ever got.

3.)Angel Season 2 - Like Buffy S3 ATS S2 has a solid arc and fantastic stand alone episodes. Angel looks into the abyss and the abyss looks back. Fantastic character study.

4.)Angel Season 1 - I enjoy this season very much. While there are missteps and a few dodgy episodes, it still has some legendary installments and series defining scenes. It does a great job of drawing in an audience and hold its attention.

5.)Buffy Season 4 - This improves on rewatches. The Initiative is actually a fascinating idea, albeit held together but a thoroughly boring lynchpin with Adam. Some fantastic stand alone episdes and when watched with a focus on each individual character it becomes engrossing to see how they change and evolve.

6.)Buffy Season 1 - This is very patchy but it still establishes the characters very well and has at least 5/6 great episodes. Not bad out of 12. Still, it is dated and the acting and action can be cringe worthy at times.

7.)Angel Season 5 - This season is up and down but has some fantastic stand alone eps and when watched knowing how things go, becomes even more interesting in terms of the choices we see Angel make. It would have benefitted from Cordelia staying alive and rejoining the team, or Lilah retaining her role.

8.)Buffy Season 5 - To be honest I tune in and out of this season. Mostly, I find it a bit boring. I mostly enjoyed the first couple of episodes, Into the Woods, The Body, Forever and the last episode. Everything else is a mush of "meh."

9.)Buffy Season 7 - Like BTVS S5, I liked the earlier episodes of this season and then it just keeps getting worse every step of the way. The poignancy of the last shot, with Buffy beaming, is soon shot to hell by the fact that she's just ruined the lives of 2000 girls.

10.)Angel Season 4 - Lots of filler eps. The Angelus arc was a let down and was only saved by Faith's at the end. I also always felt that the fight between Angel and Angelus in Orpheus should have held more weight and had a more significant consequence than it did.

11.)Angel Season 3 - A season of largely out of character nonsense. "Near-by forest fires were doused by the lack of chemistry between Angel and Cordelia." -TVWP. I have nothing further to add.

12.)Buffy Season 6 - An old BB member said it best: "I love syphilis more than Season 6."

I have yet to watch Angel, so I can only rank Buffy:

S2: I think this season had the best and tightest writing of the entire show. It also has some of my favorite episodes, all of which were very powerful--especially that finale.

S5: I really enjoy a lot of the story/character elements that are introduced in this season. And I liked Ben/Glory as the big bad. I also enjoyed Spike in season 5 moreso than any other season.

S3: Great season all around. My favorite comedy episodes (Doppelgangland, Band Candy) are in this season. A lot of the stand alone episodes were really strong too.

S6: I felt like this season had a lot of potential and a great set up for many of the characters. Unfortunately, the writing felt sloppy a lot of the time. There are some good episodes, but overall I constantly wonder what could've been if season 6 lived up to its potential.

S4: Another season that I felt had a lot of potential and some great initial ideas. I don't dislike this season as much as a lot of fans do, but I do recognize the problems with some of the acting and writing/metaphors. Still, I liked seeing the Scoobies go their separate ways and then come back together in the end. The season felt very experimental and I kinda like that about it!

S7: I love the first five episodes. I also like Conversations with Dead People. The rest of the season did not attract me at all though. Too little focus on ours characters' development for my tastes. The return of Faith made me keep watching towards the end. (And yay for Angel's surprise visit!)
