OK, so I tried to copy and paste the actual article but it got all kinds of random stuff from the sidebar, too. But Buzzfeed has an awesome article today about the vampires on BtVS. 🙂

It's a decent list. I like the concept of it more than the actual selections. I mean, of course Angel and Spike are the top two, that tracks, but Vamp Xander ahead of Mr. Trick (who should be number three in my books)? Sunday and The Anointed One there at all?

Still, it was cool to see all the great vampires the show has produced. Shame it didn't include the Angel series though.

(also, as a sidebar, I find it somewhat perplexing that every time there's a fan list that involves Spike, the hardcore Spike/Buffy shippers' feel the need to compare him to Angel. I don't get that. Angel fans rarely do that about Spike. It's perfectly cool if you like one over the other, I think they're both amazing characters who are probably my top two of anyone in the Buffyverse, but why if you rank Spike higher do you have to qualify that with "Buffy loved Spike more!", which is clearly just an opinion anyways? Not everyone does it of course, but reading the author's comments, it's almost like a degree of insecurity. Okay, sidebar over)

I agree with your sidebar. I love both Spike and Angel as individuals and in their relationships with Buffy, respectively. I don't see the point in always comparing the two unless asked to. Separate people, separate stories, etc. I think if people constantly feel the need to compare them, they're missing the point of the characters entirely.

Just at a guess, maybe because Vamp Buffy wasn't considered as much a vampire as she was the manifestation of Buffy's worst nightmare? That's about all that I could come up with. Then again, they included Vamps Willow and Xander from a parallel universe/alternate reality, so maybe it has something to do with the actual on screen time that each vampire had, or whether or not they bit anyone.

Or maybe they just forgot.

I (shockingly) don't agree with the list at all.

I think Darla should be first, she went from bad guy to dead, to resurrected, to human, to bad vampire, to pregnant with the first vampire - vampire baby, to having a sort of soul while bad then sacrificing herself for her baby and was kind of responsible for Dru, Angel and Spike.

I'd also swap Angel and Spike, I don't find Spikes story particularly interesting, it's basically a rehashing of the Buffy-Angel story, and for all the uniqueness of him, Harmony basically had a similar story without a chip. Whereas, for me, Angel had a more interesting development with two very different characters battling each other.

I'd also swap Mr. Trick and Holden Webster. Mr. Trick was hilarious.

I also think the fact that the reasons for Angel mention his relationship and everything about him is about Buffy and him, it's a more relationship biased list. Angels back story is a lot richer then Spikes.

The "annoying" one shouldn't be on there, he never even vamped out, and I agree vampire Buffy should have been!
