Rate Buffy & Angel on IMDB

Ratings never kept me from playing/watching anything but I always had a thing for them, I like giving my own review or just rate a movie or game.

Buffy was rated 8.1 on IMDB and later went down to 8.0, I was a little annoyed how it went down and seeing other shows (which I wont mention) which use Buffy as a stepping stone have a much better rating.
I'm happy to say Buffy is back to 8.1 lol but deserves more personally, like Angel having only 7.9.

How do you feel about Buffy and Angel being rated 8.1/7.9 - you think they deserve that much or more/less?

I rated Buffy 10 and Angel 9.
However, IMDB ratings don't actually tell you how good a movie or a TV show is, it tells you how popular it is, and how enjoyable it is for a general audience. Take The Shawshank Redemption, for example. It's a really great movie, but I'd never in a million years say that it's the best movie of all time. However, it's extremely good, because it's a really beautiful story that appeals to many people.

I also found that I can't blindly rely on the IMDB ratings. There are lots of movies that are rated very high that I didn't like at all. Fight Club and Inception, for example. They're still good, but I just didn't like them. There are also lots of "fanboy" or "hater" votes, especially right after a very anticipated movie is released. You'll find that most votes are either 1 or 10, often voted by users that haven't even seen the film. It's really stupid.
I think that the rating also highly depends on how a user rates movies, what he thinks a good rating is. Some rate everything that they enjoy 10 and everything they didn't like 1. I have a very specific scale and there's only one movie and two TV shows that I rated 10, and I have rated more than 500 titles.


Anyway, to answer your question about whether Angel and Buffy deserve the 7.9 and 8.1. Well, I'd say their ratings are extremely good, but I think they should be a little higher. I'd say Buffy deserves a 8.5. I'm not sure about Angel though, since I haven't watched Seasons 4 and 5 yet.
By the way, when I registered on IMDB, Buffy was rated 8.3 and Angel 8.1.
