I did it at last, I bought and watched the film Abigail, I was pleasantly surprised it was only the vampires teeth that I was not impressed with.

So I'd give it 9 out of 10.
Might even watch it again soon.

Watched The Odyssey recently too - I'll watch it again at home in future to properly absorb all the elements, but I really enjoyed it! Bit more gory than I expected. Great film, but not without its issues. 8/10

BaskingINBangel Nice! I'm also into ancient cultures, especially Egyptian. I'll look into that documentary!

eXistenZ (1999) - 6/10
A first time watch. I have heard that this one is pretty well liked. Unfortunately, I was bored out of my mind for about 90% of the movie. Not for me, but I can definitely appreciate its merits.
 
Bodies Bodies Bodies - 2/10- annoying and struggled to hold my attention
The Home - 9/10 - rather satisfying final act; loved Pete Davidson in this

OK are we ever gonna see Black Cat, I always preferred her as the love interest

This!! I’ve been saying the same thing! Why have we not had Black Cat? She was always my favorite in the animated series. I think I read she was planned for the amazing spider man 3 but it didn’t pan out
You would think that would be a good way to show how Peter has isolated himself from his life, having him date a burglar he only knows through his cape identity? Like, that's his only social interaction.

It's kind of weird they made a Spider-Man film where Marvel Girl was the villain. But I suppose in a shared universe, PP can't be the teen hero forever..

That people actually care about.

That for me was not the issue. More that Jean literally walked somone into a car, walked MJ off a building and unleashed the Hulk and there was no push back for it whatsoever

My hope would be, that they really go hard on anti-mutant hysteria in the non-X-men films, then flip perspective on the X-men Films. So, having humanity have to deal with tomorrow people who can control your mind is a first good step in that direction, then showing Jean as a confused teenager who is learning to control her power in the X-men films.
 
Ghosts of Mars (2001) - 4/10
One of those "so bad its good films." 🤣
And of course, I enjoyed it.

The Jackie Stiles Story (2022) - 9/10
A well put together documentary about one of the all-time greats of the female basketball world.

The Stranger (1946) - 8.5/10
Very haunting and suspenseful!

The Ghost Camera (1933) - 5/10
Surprisingly suspenseful, and quite enjoyable. An overall solid film for that era.

Killer Ghost (2026) - 7/10

This supernatural action movie is on Shudder and is really worth a look. Enjoyable action, some fun black comedy and character arcs. There’s a spin off show on HBO I might take a look at.
 
i saw mardi gras(2007?) complete waste of time, the lead characters were awful the humour corky and the stupidist story ever 1/10
 
Song Sung Blue (2025)
7.5/10

Great performances from Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman. Felt the film dragging a touch in the middle - trimming the run time down by 10 or 15 minutes would've kept it from wavering.
Really enjoyed watching this.

There's also a documentary (that the film is based upon), and as I understand it, it's available to watch for free on YT. Will have to check it out.
 
Zodiac 2007 (Re-watch) - 8/10

Was listening to a podcast episode about the Zodiac murders and it made me want to re-watch this film. Taut, intense and so well acted and directed, it's a very good watch. With that being said, I watched the Director's Cut, which does drag the movie out a tiny bit.
 
Speaking of Director Cuts I watched Troy the Director Cut. 9/10 really liked it.

Damn I really wish it had been Sean Bean as Odysseyus rather than Matt Damon.

Really good film though my sympathy in the film is with Hector not Achilles who comes across as a complete sociopath. Though I thought that when I read the book anyway.

Also regarding all the controversy with The Odyssey. I notice there's none with Patroclus being his "cousin" in this rather than his lover.
