Roswell season 2 (2000/01) 6/10
Not sure if I like this more than the first season or not. The switch to more sci-fi style plots over the teen melodrama was a welcome change for me at least. It was good to get more time for the supporting characters too. But the storytelling overall is not as good and it lacks some of the comic charm of the first season. The fallout from Alex's death is really good.

Safe season 1 - 7/10
Enjoyably pulpy mystery. Good casting, though Michael C. Hall's British accent is a bit all over the place. Nicely plotted and the final twist was well handled I thought. Not perfect, but good enough.
 
This website had a ridiculously inviting offer so I bought the first season of 3 shows I haven't watched before. I'm almost done with the second one, so I can only rate one of them.

This Is Us S1 - 8.5/10
Just a stunning piece of television. I do wish I hadn't been spoiled on some things, that pilot would have made a much bigger impact, but the rest of the show still had that on me. I was personally thrilled to see a big girl as a lead character, and while there was a focus on her weight loss attempts, it was done in a humanizing way, and not because the show was telling its audience that being skinny was the way to go. Kate is such an amazing character and I adore her relationship with her fiance (forgot his name, lol.)

All the actors really put in their A-game for this one, but I was especially impressed with Sterling K. Brown (who is up for an Emmy this year for this show). I know him best as a vicious villain on Supernatural, so seeing him portray the kind and vulnerable Randall here was such a shift, but a good one. There wasn't a single character that I didn't like (unless I was supposed to dislike them) and it had some incredible character arcs/storylines; Randall and his dad, Kate and Kevin's relationship, the Rebecca/Jack flashbacks of family life and so on.

Anyway, I really loved it and can't wait to begin S2.

Orphan Black season 2 (2014) 9/10
Fantastic multi-plotting. Even more character depth and suspense than the first season. Good assemble casting also.
 
Scream Queens S1 - 7.5//10
So deliciously absurd and kooky, some of the best characters I've seen in a while...and some of the most boring. There's a reason it's not that high of a rating compared to what it could've been. For every endlessly interesting character (Chanel no. 3) there was an endlessly boring one (Grace). For every exciting storyline (Hester's journey as a Chanel) there was a dull one (Grace and Pete's relationship) and there were some plot strings that were cut way too early, some characters with such potential that were dropped, usually in order to focus more on the more boring characters.

But it was still such fun, every scene with a Chanel in it held great interest, it was funny and cleverly written. Pretty excited to keep going with S2.

Cougar Town s1 & 2
This show is actually funny, dammit! Despite the bad (and inaccurate) title - which even the writers realise is lame - there are some good jokes flying around. Shoutout to Abed Nadir, the reason why I gave this show a chance.

Who Is America? Episode 2 - 10/10

The first episode was a mixed bag, eventually getting to the hilarious & terrifying segment on Republicans advocating for the arming of 4 year old with semi automatic weapons.

The second episode is next level. Republican former Vice President Dick Cheney discussing his favourite war, torture and signing a water board.

Republican State Representative running around with his bare arse screaming America to fend off terrorists (and so much more).

Then we get to meet some of the Trump base in Kingman. They declare themselves racist and threaten to shoot Sacha.

It's a weird feeling watching the show as it's absolutely hilarious and so worrying. Should be compulsory viewing so people know what they're voting for.
 
Me and a friend marathoned Orange is the New Black season 6 yesterday. Really liked it. Going to be interesting to see where they go from here. Wonder how many years they have left?

At least a couple more I hope! But I think the producer has said they might end it with season 7. I'm one of the few who thinks the show hasn't lost any steam (has ups and downs, but I think it's stayed pretty consistent considering)

One more if their smart I'd say. The impression I get is that it hasn't been as good the last couple of seasons. By S6-7 you would think they'd have done as much with the characters as they could.
 
Hidden Series 1 - 8/10
New crime drama from the makers of Hinterland (think I prefer it to that). Its a very disturbing and gripping drama. Powerful performances, and it deals sensitively with dark issues.
 
Orphan Black season 3 (2015) 10/10
It says something about a show when even the supporting characters have great depth and arcs. I loved the plots involving Donnie and Delphine this season. Once again fantastic twists and turns. The pacing was great and again there was a good mix of light and dark.
 
Orange is the New Black, s6 - 3.5/5 ”stars”

Successful change of scenery and freshness with some new characters. Especially like the introduction of Carol and Barbara, and Frieda’s past. It feels like the old characters are really running on steam now, they’re just not as interesting anymore and are starting to feel a bit stagnant. I enjoyed the season though, but thought the ending was a bit too blatantly SJW-y for my taste, though it had a certain change I really did like as that character in particular was just becoming grating.

Sharp Objects episodes 1-4: 11/10 Show just keeps getting better! 🙂

Well… that felt like a waste of time. Kind of cosy in a sense but mostly, meh. Feels like Netflix just wanted to get in on that good Atwood action after Handmaid's Tale became a hit. Good news for me though, I can take this book off my Reading list.

In related news, Netflix, so sorry you missed out on the Buffy reboot. If you wish to get in on the Whedon-name-association then there is this little show called Firefly...

Have they've missed out on the Buffy reboot? I thought they were still shopping around for networks and that NF were one of the interested parties.
 
The Office (US) season 3 (2006/07) 9/10
This and the second season are as close to comic perfection as you can get. Love the surreal humour, but also it has great storytelling and character growth.
 
Cloak & Dagger: Season 1 (7/10): I enjoyed this more than I expected. I was never really a fan of these characters in the comics, even though I liked the idea of them (Dagger was far too wet and Cloak was a gloomy non-entity).
This show takes the same principals and makes them more layered; it utilizes their powers in unique and interesting ways to give them more depth (them and others). Making Dagger a cynical con-artist who has the power to see peoples hopes was inspired, and Tyrone's far more idealistic character being able to see fears enabled some nice character growth. The season also got better as it progressed; the last 4 or so were really gripping.
On the downside the pacing could've been a lot better (too slow/meandering in places0 and there were some racial themes that I didn't care for (I give Tyrone a pass because of his young age/trauma but some of his statements about race were a bit hysterical)
In a way it reminded me a lot of Heroes S1; powers are used as an extension of character.
