You know the drill. Tell us who was brilliant, mediocre, or simply terrible. From the best to the worst.

1. Amy Pond - I loved her SO much! She was this cute, gawky ginger with a stoic streak. But it was not in her nature to accept something she disagreed with. Strong girl, dependable, fun.

2. Donna Noble - Another ginger girl...and my God, she had a mouth on her! It was LOVELY that she didn't find the Doctor at all attractive. And she never hesitated to tell him so. Nor did she accept his opinions without a fight. She was bright, feisty, and amazing.

3. River Song - She could be MASSIVELY annoying, but had moments where she positively sparkled. (Let's Kill Hitler, Silence in the Library, for example)

4. Martha Jones - Boring boring boring. Plus, fell for the Doctor; that's always a bad sign.

5. Rose Tyler - Actually, she had some great moments. Not many, but a few. However, that scene where she sobbed, "I love you..." made me ill. Blech!

Last, and DEFINITELY least: *drum roll amongst catcalls and thrown vegetables*

6. Clara Oswald - Honestly, I can't say enough bad things about her. (But I'll try, of course!) That insipid, wide face...set atop a small, troll-like body. Constant yapping and always so sure that she's right about everything. And we she threw the TARDIS keys into lava. (Whether she imagined it or not, the intent was there!) A companion should NEVER be more important than the Doctor. (Thanks a lot, Moffatt. Wanker!!)

Love that Evil grin smilie!
There is only one.

Amy. Pond. 😛

Curious why Bill isn't in this list?! 😵

I dislike Matt Smith with a passion, I always called his tenure (whilst Amy was a companion) the Amy Pond show....
Donna Noble absolutely the best companian by a million miles, just real and funny and so different from any other companion. I felt she and the Doctor were really friends, unlike any other relationship he's ever had.

The worst was Rose Tyler. Hated the romance! Hated that they fixed the whole show so she could walk off into the sunset with her Doctor. Those sort of idealised romances are just vomit inducing, and spoilt the 10th Doctor for me (he's my least favourite and that's because of the stupid romance storyline) 🙄

Amy Pond and Donna Noble were the best companions for 11th and 10th respectively (Red haired companions are the best companions).

The absolute worst companion is Clara Oswald. Even Martha was better than her. I was so happy when the Raven killed her and so disappointed when they brought her back. I wanted her to stay dead. She is to Doctor Who, what Kennedy is to Buffy. Both characters needed killing off permanently.

I totally about forgot her. 😳

Guess this underlines how I really feel about the show...after Matt Smith left. I watched a bit, but it's not truly "real" for me anymore.

Same. I'll probably tune in for the Christmas special and the first episode of the new Doctor but unless it's really good and the new doctor and companion are really likeable then I don't know whether I'll be watching next year.

I wasted so much time TRYING to like 12...and I love Peter, but these past series have left me feeling empty. I liked The Caretaker but everything else felt like a waste of time. Especially after the long wait.

I usually know if I'll like a Doctor during his introduction. David and Matt absolutely nailed it. Fell in love with them within the first 15 minutes.

When they first change, I don't know whether I'll like them or not but by the end of their first full episode, I like them. That's how it was for Tennant and Smith. Capaldi's just never clicked for me, Clara made it even harder because the show became too focussed on her, but it felt like Smith's cameo in Capaldi's first episode was him asking the audience to give Capaldi's Doctor a chance. A former Doctor shouldn't need to do that, a new Doctor should stand on his own two feet.

Amy and Donna were in my humble opinion two of the very, very best companions of the modern series and to be honest with y'all, I don't dislike Clara.

So that begs the question: Why all the hate for Clara? Sure, she could and was a pain in the backside for the majority of the episodes, but c'mon people, she had her good points... didn't she??

She just...made me cringe. A vapid dwarf who talked too much. She deserved a long, painful death. #KillClaraOswald

I didn't mind her in the beginning, the introduction o her was good, but when she tried to do more than just be a companion it became too much.

Remember the episode that had Jenna's name BEFORE Peter's in the opening credits? *screams like a psycho*
I thought Rose was good, the fact she was the introductory companion and the fact she was played by a 90s teen pop star should have made her rubbish, but Billie Piper was really enjoyable to watch.

Donna was also really good, but I have tendency to forget about her, again because the actress is known for her comedic work in the UK, so I forget she can also be a credible actress.

I kinda switched off during the Clara years. She was very very pretty, but I thought she was a bit style over substance....

I'd have to say Rose, she's the companion that the doctor cared about the most and therefore they had some very entertaining times together.

I would actually go with Martha being the worst, as at least Clara is memorable, I can't think of a single storyline with Martha in it.

I struggled with Donna, as I was never a fan of Catherine Tate, but maybe I'll see more of Donna in my rewatch

Martha was just...there. A little bland but tolerable. Clara was awful. She was irritating. I was rooting for her to die and was so happy when they killed her off. It was disappointing when they brought her back, she should've stayed dead.

To be fair I gave up before they even killed her off, so I still haven't seen her die!
