Re-Casting "The Avengers"

This is just an exercise for your imagination, in the spirit of the old saying about keeping a vivid imagination by imagining 5 impossible things every day.

We know how Joss likes to re-use the same actors in various roles, so let's just imagine that he has been given a free hand in re-casting the characters for the 2nd "Avengers" movie, and he decides to use actors from his previous TV shows. Who do you think that he would cast in the parts of the various Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. members?

For example:

Summer Glau as the Black Widow, based on her fighting skills in "Serenity."

Nicholas Brandon as Nick Fury, because he already knows how to wear the eye patch.

So, who would you cast in which parts, and why?

SMG or Gina Torres - Black Widow : Both can kick ass, But think Gina might take it better for me, SMG's stuff can be hit or miss (she's either on point like in Buffy or Cruel Intentions or she is just too cartoonish for me)
DB - Captain America : He has a similar look, very all American
Nathan Fillion - Iron Man : He can pull off the cocky thing
Alexis Denisof - Bruce Banner / Hulk : Can do the skinny nerd thing, but has the acting chops to back up a Hulk with depth just like Ruffalo
Sean Maher - Thor : Well built and we know from Much Ado he can handle that Shakespeare stuff
J. August Richards / Morena Baccarin - Hawkeye : J would be cool, I'd prefere Morena If I'm allowed to change the sex of a character, We saw here with a bow in Serenity and she was great

Summer Glau - Maria Hill : Believeable as an agents but can put together a nice looking fight when needed
Alan Tudyk - Agent Coulson : This just feels right

James Marsters - Loki : He makes a much better baddie, and I presume he can do Shakespeare since he's done a lot of stage stuff and used to go to Whedons readings.
Ron Glass - Selvig : Dont really have a reason for this

Anthony S Head - Jarvis (Iron mans suit voice) : Sounds right in my head
Charisma Carpenter - Pepper Pots : I'd like this better then Paltrow.

Sounds like fun, I'll try. A few friends and I once tried to come up with a fantasy Avengers cast, but it got out of hand and we ended up casting John Goodman for every role 😀


Nathan Fillion as Tony Stark
He's the only actor besides Robert Downey Jr. who I know can pull off a likeable ass that well.


Sean Maher as Bruce Banner
I think Sean looks like somebody who could be a scientist.


James Marsters as Loki
He can pull off a believable villain.


Summer Glau as Black Widow
I wanna see her kick some serious ass. Her fight scenes are awesome.


Bailey Chase as Hawkeye
He's pretty muscular and he just looks like Hawkeye to me. And he looks.. well, too smart for Thor or Captain America.


Nicholas Brendon or Harry Lennix as Nick Fury
Nick because in the first Season 8 comic he tells the potentials to call him Colonel Fury and also because now that he's a little older, he kind of looks a little bit like the actual comic Nick Fury. Oh, yeah, and the eye patch of course.
Harry because he's tall and he's excellent in portraying characters who are in charge of the situation.


Amy Acker as Pepper Potts
She's attractive and charming. But she also could play Black Widow or Maria Hill. But she looks great in suits and stuff, so Pepper Potts it is.


Eliza Dushku - Maria Hill
She could also easily be Black Widow, but I can totally see her as an agent.


Anthony Head - Jarvis
I always thought Jarvis should be British...


Alan Tudyk as Phil Coulson
He's funny and nice. Kind of like Clark Gregg.


Not so sure about these two:

Tamoh Penikett as Thor
Marc Blucas as Steve Rogers

I couldn't see David Boreanaz in either role. Since Thor and Captain America are both totally ripped, I'd say, as far as appearance goes, Marc and Tamoh are the most fitting choices.
