I've tried so hard to tell myself to be cognizant of the other side of the coin, but the longer this documentary goes on, the angrier I get. How can you be so uninformed? How can you assume that just because you feel a certain way, everyone else will, too? Anyway, see for yourselves and make up your own minds...

The longer it goes on? It's only 27 minutes!
I don't know what to make of this issue. Everyone is messed up and I wouldn't presume how to tell other people how to deal with their messed-up-ness. However, your body is precious and people should be careful about messing with their flesh and their chemistry. The body is a very concrete and temporal thing.

On the other side, cis-hetero-normativity is no safe-sure way to happiness. You can live just like they tell you to and be profoundly unhappy and still have terrible things happen to you.

This is a very unfortunate piece. No doubt there should be a conversation as I'm sure that this surgery is not for everyone and people should feel free seek counseling if they are still feeling body dysmorphic symptoms etc. But that is not the truth for all people. For some folks the surgery works just fine. And furthermore, it is impossible to ignore the obviously religious bias of this documentary. There seems to be some type of implication in this documentary that you can "pray the transgender away" which is an extremely dangerous and backward way of thinking. That, in and of itself, is a harmful message! Anyway, that video has a clear agenda and I'm not a fan of the presentation at all.

I agree the people in that video are totally messed up and mentally retarded but if that is what they want to be like I'll not hold it against them. If they want to believe in Christ they can, I'll not force my belief on them.

I thought people who wanted to transition had to spend such an amount of time living as their preferred sex before the transition op could take place? They'd be given the hormone drugs but they had to spend time living as a woman/man for a while before transition surgery would be approved in order to make sure it was what they wanted rather than a whim.

Stupid idea wasn't it, it is the mind set of a person that needs change, nothing to do with the physical attributes.

I just want to clarify that when I said that everyone is messed up, I meant the big everyone, not the people in the video. These people thought sexual reassignment would make them happier, but it didn't, and now they have turned to religion and triathlons. I think it is a fallacy of hindsight to believe that every choice you make that fails to bring you happiness was the wrong choice. For some people, there simply isn't that much happiness to find.

Some people waste years of their lives in bad marriages, some people waste years of their lives in bad jobs, some people waste years of their lives in depression and some people waste their time being the wrong sex. I don't think it's wise to throw around words like retarded. We never know the next time we're gonna fall on our face.

I know next to nothing about the details of this process, but I do know that, if someone has the money and is willing to look around, they would be able to find someone willing to skip all of the "waiting periods," and preform the necessary surgery immediately. It just has to be a cash up front deal.

Sad commentary on the medical profession, ain't it?

I havent seen this doco, not sure I will cos this topic distresses me if i spend too much time on it.

Recently a person I know locally de-transitioned. Luckily said person had not yet had surgery but was on hormones. The person later shared that they suspected a medication used by their mother during pregnancy caused their behaviour. Moat in the community were supportive. Some went as far to find other similar cases. And there were a few.

I do not understand how medics can promote extreme self harm in men, but call cutters psychotic? Doesnt make sense to me but I was one of their puppets for over a decade so what I have seen has tainted my views for the future.

We all used to run around naked, there were times in togas, times when we all wore skirts. The girl/boy divide in clothing and make up is really quite recent and naturally media will move away from it again. The focus should not be so selfishly changing others and forcing the world to their will, rather, acceptance of their state and confidence to rock whatever costume they desire.

WillowFromBuffy and Amber Bunny Slippers,
how could you
how could you write such a thing as that.
To say that's the beauty of the internet, allowing people to have different opinions, it is quite true and I agree with you, I just felt like pretending I didn't, you know, for a change (tee hee).

As someone who IS retarded - why is this word not to be used? Us retards are all locked up and medicated together under the bible of psychiatry.

As the DSM changes, the support for psychiatry grows and I dont understand how. The changes to the DSM should be proof that their whole premise is based on judgemental lies of a mother lover in order to keep conformity in community. Drug anyone who falls outside the extremely strict guidelines of "mentally healthy". To my mentally retarded mind, it seems this whole song and dance about acceptance is to hide what psychiatry has promoted for decades. That these people are mentally ill and in need of life long medication.

Now, if mutilating body parts is no longer mental illness, then they MUST immediately release every woman and child they have diagnosed, locked up and drugged for self harm. What is the difference? The transgender people have money to pay someone else to perform their mutilation.

No one truly cares what you wear, judgement from other humans comes from the way we move, as it does among the animal world. Move strangely and humans will treat you as odd. Move with confidence and you WILL be accepted amongst the plebs. Its only business class that put so much emphisis on looks - on what skin you are wrapped in and how you are percieved in photographs and media releases.

Happiness is never going to come from a life of being medically managed. It can come from accepting what is and living within the boundries of what is. The transgender movement toward mutilation is harmful. People dressing as the opposite sex has always happened, and always will. The difference now is the medical world offering expensive implants and such to wear skin as a costume. And this being promoted as happiness.

I am pretty happy when Im oblivious to the double standards of the world, but its literally thrown in my face everytime I go online. How many are being persuded in the other direction? How many do listen to what the social media suggestions are saying? For example, everytime I go to youtube it suggests "how to help a mentally disturbed person" type videos. I never watch these types of things, yet they keep coming. The algarithms have identified me as crazy and look to further mould that what does it do to a teenage boy who googles make up tips?

Theres a difference between having psych issues and being retarded. Retarded means someone who is just plain stupid, which you are NOT. 😙
Them psychiatrists are a bunch of weirdo's, before medical people decided they knew best us witches used to maintain the health of everyone who wanted us to help them. We believed in calling a spade a spade, talking to tools from the garden was the norm to us. And we were okay with that. Now when the expert medical people say people are retarded they do weird things and use science to help them; we used nature because natural remedies are best. Occasionally the natural method is to dig a hole and bury folk alive but if they want to be politicians that is their fault.

First thing first, RT is essentially the Putin/Russia Propaganda Network (and the Russian Orthodox church in Russia also has very strong ties to the government) and that bias has to be taken into account. (Furthermore, they have to please their target audience or they'll lose money...as a rule of thumb, people want their biases confirmed and to be pandered to over any sort of deep analysis or objective truth.)

That said, there are times the RT will report on things or allow a view that no one else will so that I don't wholly discount it (and all major networks, and most to all the smaller ones, have their own biases as well), but I take it with a grain of salt. There was one woman who used to work with the RT reporting on US affairs that I liked because she was sure to list independent sources that I could look up. RT just wanted her to criticize the US which she did well, but in doing so she said things likely to upset her employers as they clashed against Russian values, and may have contributed strongly to why she no longer works for them.

It's not just RT, and there are other sources besides the media. I'm absolutely certain that the reason that these sex changes are so (relatively) popular here is because of capitalism (particularly Wall Street taking over the medical system here, many of those Wall Street tycoons also owning their own media sources). It's profitable, and many of the hoops people are made to jump through are but another way to shake out some cash (that includes money for the government). It's bad enough that a thriving black market exists, and Thailand is said to offer competent services in this regards without the usual rigmarole, and even taking into account the plane tickets, places to stay as the long process is completed, etc, it's still cheaper and less time for Americans to go to Thailand to have it done than it is to do it in the United States.

But what I've heard is that regret for those who transition as adults only rarely express regret, and I've read accounts of those who felt free to be themselves after years of being another gender. Here's one who details her experience (5 pages) and I kept up with her for years...she never expressed regrets:

From Donald to Deirdre

This causes me to lean away from the view promoted by RT here...though I found some of what they said interesting, and possibly insightful. (What is behind this phenomenon is a mystery to me.)

However, those who transition as children are said to be much more likely to experience regret down the road. This has caused me to change my view from thinking "whatever" to thinking it shouldn't be allowed at that age, at least until something else changes my mind. I'm not particularly passionate about it, but I do see cause for concern there.

When our science becomes so advanced that a full gender shift can be done (which includes full reversals) then I won't really care at all...in fact, if the situation was advanced enough that it wasn't too expensive, time consuming, or troublesome, I'd try being a male for say a month just out of curiosity. Of course, I don't expect such advances within my lifetime.

As for one specific aspect brought up, I know the one describing how one had to take it a bit further to be perfect yet it never is..many people do that in so many different ways, and if there are enough then an industry will pop up around it (which in turn will try to promote it to get more customers), and I expect RT would even promote such in some cases (such as those who think religion can stop their doubts and insecurities if they just go to all the services and reach that pinnacle of holiness, though RT will have a very strong bias toward Russian Orthodoxy above all other religions). And many people are obsessed with getting that specific job or degree, a hundred thousand followers on social media, a certain high salary, or married with kids, and the like thinking it will help them to like themselves or be content (rather than anxious, depressed, etc) only to find it doesn't. Granted, gender reassignment is a lot harder to come back from if you change your mind down the road.

And many people are brutal on themselves and on others. Transgendered communities online can be rife with personal attacks on each other, which is them projecting their own insecurities into others and tearing into them which can range from passive aggressive to vicious...something that is normal for a great many people. This kind of self-hate and insecurity which exist in so many (not just those who are transgendered, and I believe marketing causes a lot of it) can lead to self-mutilation, or believing their body is overweight despite being dangerously underweight. That is, these specific people chosen for the RT report (and who knows how many others) could actually be suffering from a common problem of the human condition that takes gender dysphoria as its specific form in them for whatever reason. Don't know, it just occurs to me.
