I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time last year. I thought it was a fantastic show and it was something that entertained me before I had to go to work but that was about it. I hadn't really processed some of the more interesting themes and elements that the show brought up. I got done watching the last episode of season 7 and instead of it being more satisfying it was actually more of a tragic ending. I think when I watched it for the first time I assumed that all of the characters that we had come to love would end up in a happy place. My point being that I don't think I fully watched the show and paid enough attention the first time around for it to of had the impact it should have.

6 months after I finished watching the series I started to read and hear about how much of a cult following the show had and how witty Whedon's writing was in relation to the subtext of the show. Honestly I felt like I was reading and hearing about a different show than I had originally experienced.
Long story made short, I am currently rewatching the entire series and I'm currently on season 3. I am right now watching the Wish episode and it's made me realize how weird it is that I haven't been able to appreciate the show in a different light. I feel like I am now more accustom to the pacing of the series, and as a result, I am better able to adjust and more importantly comprehend the dialogue when an actor says it way too fast or if it's a bunch of one-liners that enhance the storyline through comedic relief.

Has anybody else felt like they are better able to appreciate and comprehend the series in a whole new way the second time around?

That's the thing about rewatches: not only do you see the show in a different light, but you get a greater and indepth understanding and appreciation of how it works. You can dig into the metaphors, characters, demons, buffyverse- alot of stuff you missed the first round. I find that the more I watch something, the better understanding I have about the language, and I actually find it more and more funnier. Welcome To The Hellmouth just used to get occasional laughs from me, now it is so funny to me, I seriously quote it all the time. ''he stole my barbie'' lol.

About Chosen: I think it was intended to be uplifting - ''we won'' yet I dunno, I felt a bit odd about it, I'm still kind of mixed about it, as I am about season seven.

Well, I'm getting further and further in season 3 and I can't wait to get to the finale because I don't really remember it too well.
Truth be told, one of the main reasons I decided to rewatch the entire series is because I wanted to be able to continue enjoying Buffy with the motion comic of season 8 and all of the other comics. I didn't know these things existed when I watched the show initially.
I don't know how a lot of the hardcore fans feel about the motion comic and or the regular comics, but I'm eager to read a lot of the stuff on the boards.

The second time around, you know what is going to happen. Since you already know the gist of the story, you can look around and see other details that escaped you the first time. The element of surprise may be reduced, but some of the shock value is still there.

Hey I watched the last 5 eps of S6 like 6 times now and still find something new or a new thought will go though my brain

I just did my my third full rewatch of the series
First watch was main story and to wach hot girls look good kicking ass or doing magic

The second one was more deeper what where the characters saying to each other and why? What might they be thinking

The third is watching the characters movements watching the actors blocking where are they in the scene what small thing are they doing that inhances there character. Watching with the subtitles and commtarys on

I'm actually excited to get to the end of the series so I can watch some of the special features I've never seen.
I actually just went to my favorite electronics store and purchased every season of "Angel" and inside season 2 was an extra disc and it's the 2008 cast reunion at some festival or event. So, I actually have a lot of unwatched material.
Getting back to season 3, it wasn't until last night that I realized what a diminished role Faith had in the series. whenever people talk about Buffy they talk about the Faith character and it wasn't until I started rewatching the series that I realized how soon Faith turned on Buffy. And even more perplexing is that we never received an explanation as to why Faith did the things she did. I am at work right now but I am eager to get home and watch the 2 part season finale because I can't remember how faith's storyline ended. As a matter of fact, I would consider Faith's character to be one of the most deeply written and deeply misunderstood.
