Reaction To Vampire Bites

This was brought up in another thread, about how Liam and William might have been actually wanting to be vampires because they didn't struggle just before and during the actual feeding by their respective sires.

How many times have we actually seen any victim put up any sort of fight whatsoever once a vampire grabs them? They might try to escape before actually being grabbed, but as soon as they're caught, all the fight seems to go right out of them. No kicking, screaming, or even trying to push their attacker away. No gradually fading resistance as their life's blood is drained from their veins. Even Buffy, in Season 7, when she's being held by a couple of Spike's newly risen minions, stops all struggling when Spike approaches her, only finally resisting when it becomes obvious that he isn't, in fact, actually going to bite her.

So, what do you think? Some sort of close range, involuntary, vampire thrall that takes place bust before the biting, universal shock at what is taking place, or some other explanation?

Vampire's bite causes sexual pleasure, victims don't struggle because it feels great. This is why there are humans that actually pay vampires to be bitten. Ever wondered why Buff's so into vamps? Look at her first sexual experience.

Great observations. It's true. When the victim is captured by a vampire, the fight is almost non-existent. An example of this? The Master bites Buffy in "Prophecy Girl" and she stops fighting against him. Considering that she is the Chosen One, that scene was pretty disturbing.

I don't know if it's a vampire thrall or anything, but now it's canon that vampire's bite causes a kind of pleasure sexual, as well as we learn from season nine,

And that scene in Grduation Day Pt 2- when Angel bites Buffy and its pretty clear its a sexual experience for her. 😀

So much so that Joss didn't think that he'd get it past the sensors- but they were more concerned with the mass school uprising.

While I think the vampire bite being pleasurable is answered in the show, the moments surrounding it are different.

I dont think there is any vampire thrall, I think most people screamed, or where scared. The only examples I can think of where people who were grabbed and the vampire talked before biting them, and I'd assume they were shocked with fear, their faces always conveyed fear. Anyone else the vampire hadn't grabbed usually ran or screamed.

Liam didn't know what was coming, but was under Darla infatuation. She was promising him a whole new world, while he was drunk and she was hot.

William on the other hand actually saw Dru was a monster and still went ahead with it. But it wasn't thrall or any other excuse he just had a crappy life and liked what Dru was promising.

Of course there's the whole sexual pleasure thing as many have already mentioned. Then most people are probably just paralyzed with fear or are in a WTF state. I mean, imagine a stranger biting your neck, I'd be a bit baffled.

Also, if a vamp bites the neck directly, assuming that they can reach an artery and perforate it, it would take about a minute for the person to completely bleed out (and that's without any sucking). Most people would just die too quickly to fight.
