Will I have to read the Buffy season 8 comics to Read the new Angel comics, Do you think I would? : erm : I want to, it's just that i don't have them and won't have them for another month... But I will have the Angel comic when it comes out... unless they have some of Buffy in with the Angel comics, which I don't want to know about yet. Does anyone understand what I am asking ? : erm :

I don't really think you'll have to. I mean I don't think the Buffy comics will be essential to the Angel plot. I really wouldn't worry about it!

It is pretty safe to say that you can read Angel without having to read Buffy and vice versa. The Angel comics are published by IDW Publishing, while Dark Horse Comics owns the rights to Buffy. The two companies will probably want to avoid the stories becoming too intertwined.

Moreover, Angel: After the Fall begins in May 2004 (in the Buffyverse timeline), while The Long Way Home takes places in November 2004.

If the time line in the two series are as has been stated by Joss and several others involved, the "Buffy Season 8" story line takes place more than a year after the battle at Sunnydale, while "Angel Season 6" picks up almost immediately after the Season 5 finale. If that is so, whatever happened in LA took place in the Buffy comic's past by at least six months. The events of one would only slightly affect the other, and direct crossovers would be impossible unless some sort of time travel were involved. In other words, you don't have to read one to know what's going on in the other.
