So do you watch any reality t.v. shows? If so what do you watch and why do you like it?

I'm looking forward to I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here the Wales edition!! LOL.... How will they cope being stuck with the weather and the long cold dark nights...? Got to be seen as it's normally in Australia.

I guess shows that are more entertainment based rather than anything else. Based on the character of the people and or talents. So anything from the average Joe Blogs to a big celebrity. So I guess from X-Factor to Gogglebox over here! I don't personally watch many myself but I know a lot of people do.

I used to watch Survivor back when it was popular. Some people call that reality TV... no idea why.

There's going to be sheep, it's wales lol. The "bushtucker" trials are certainly going to be different.

I can't wait until we get "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" in New Zealand, oh .. that's just like Wales 'cept with earthquakes and volcanoes.

I watched the first series then part of the second 'cos it got to repetitive. What we need is more programs about sensible stories like:
A Vampire Slayer
Dog Soldiers
Zombieland
Werewolf Rising
 
Haven't watched reality TV forever.

Some of the ones I (vaguely) remember are Fear Factor, American Idol, Singapore Idol (we had it over here too back then), X-Factor, America's Funniest Home Videos, and there was an amusing one I distinctly remember... My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé. The fiancé placed his hands on the sides of his chest and pretended it was a moose's head, the hands the horns, and the nipples the eyes... It's stupid.
 
I quite enjoy Gogglebox - especially when they're watching the news sections and ripping apart Bojo.
I also love Say Yes to the Dress. It is my guilty pleasure T.V. And I used to adore wife swap. I know they've brought back wife swap U.S.A and in some ways the American version is better because the extremes are so much more extreme, but at the same time it's a lot more obviously fake (whereas the UK version had a disclaimer that said all the scenes were real and none were staged, the American version's disclaimer said the exact opposite - and boy could you tell which of the scenes were staged).
 
I like elaborate prank vids (sometimes called "punked"), as long as they're not overly cruel (as those from Japan sometimes get), or even worse, middle school (pulling a chair out as someone is sitting down, for example, the prank being reading a book like "Everyone sharts" on public transportation, or messing up a painting that a child was working of for an hour). I had to look up one I kept up with for awhile. It was called Impractical Jokers. But it got a bit too middle school after awhile and I stopped watching it.

I have very mixed feelings of Kimmel's prank kids, that is he gets his viewers to prank their own kids (though a lot of the pranks would be fine in my book if it wasn't televised), at least it's better than the alternative ways parents exploit their children for attention (from abuse to deadly stunts). I almost never watch them (the few I have were those on YT that someone dragged me to see).
 
I used to watch Big Brother and not just he UK version, I've watched all the English speaking versions including African.
I like the weight loss shows, I find them quite inspiring.
I'm also looking forward to 'I'm a Celeb . . . ' as it's always entertaining.
 
Oh so many, most I don't watch now:

Bake Off - still watching it as it airs
Nailed It - hoping they do another one soon
Sugar Rush - again waiting on new episodes
MasterChef - got bored of that, preferred the Aussie version

Wedding:
Say yes to the dress - US ones
Don't tell the bride

Home:
Does Extreme makeover:home edition count?
How clean is your house

Weight loss:
The Biggest Loser
Supersize Vs Superskinny
You are what you eat

Not sure how many of those are reality shows
 
Not in a long time. I used to like watching Treasure Island and Judge Judy on Irish tv back in the day, though, when reality tv was still new.
 
I remember Judge Judy! While courtroom dramas aren't my thing (especially when I don't know if it's real or not), circumstances exposed me to the show and I was impressed by some of it. For example, one claims her signature was forged so Judge Judy had the one saying that write her name 3 times and bring it up to her...and then asked for her license that also had her signature. The signature on the license matched the one on the contract (or whatever it was), unlike where she had just faked her own signature style 3x over.

If some of those idiots were real I'd have a short temper like her as well.

It just seems weird that many of those cases would agree to go to court on Live TV, unless both sides were secretly working together for their 15 minutes of minor fame along with a free trip with some spending money. Now I'm curious where the producers find the people to agree to having their case on TV rather than an actual court instead...do they sift through records, pay lawyers for referrals, or what? (Or just those who appear writing in as a request, which goes back to those actually only pretending to have a legal issue in need of resolving.)
 
I watch a lot of stuff on History and Discovery (my grandson, like all kids, loves dinosaurs, so whenever he's around, I try to find some big lizard stuff for him, Alamo attracts me like honey to a bear) Shows about people living off the grid, like "Mountain Men," are good, and some of my favorites, no longer on, sadly, are "Survivorman," (Les Stroud is the daddy of all the survivalist documentaries) I watch "Forged In Fire" when it's on, and "Alone." Other than that, it's pretty much old movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime. The current series stuff just doesn't appeal to me.
 
We only watch skill-based reality shows at Pointy Towers - and then only a limited few of those. We both enjoy Great British Bake Off, and Mrs P watches Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice. We don't bother with I'm a Celebrity, anything connected with Simon Cowell, or anything featuring sets of numpties acting out (posh, common, housewives, shores, Big Brother etc). We're old and grumpy...😉

Reality shows are not my bag at all . I did get into Big Brother for a season back in the day , but generally not how I roll .

I did recently really , really enjoy 'The Big Flower Fight' on Netflix

A bit generic but quite charming . The whole setup appeals to me , stick a bunch of expensive shrubs in a fancy tent and set a bunch of arty types loose in there . 😀 Right up my street 🙂
