Reality TV Shows

What's your opinion on them?

In general, I find them really enjoyable, stuff that doesn't require much attention, but that I find interesting.

I know some people percieve them as banal and very low culture, but hey, without having an ego, I consider myself to be quite an intelligent girl, and I enjoy the escapism and insight into how other people live.

I loved Laguna Beach and The Hills, and I don't know if anyone not from the UK has heard of it, but we have one called Made in Chelsea that's just finished, and I absolutely loved it. I thought it was hilarious.

What's your opinion?

Yes, it does.

I don't really like the competition type reality shows like American Idol, but there has been some good reality shows on TV that I miss like A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila. That show was hilarious! Jersey Shore isn't bad either.

I generally hate reality TV these days, because no one is really real anymore. Everyone's out there to get their 15 minutes of fame instead of actually being who they are.

First off I was a HUGE fan of Laguna Beach, the Hills was okay for a while but I missed the other people from Laguna.

Made in Chelsea sounds interesting I will have to look that up. I knew there was supposed to be like a British Jersey Shore on MTV still haven't seen it yet.

My favorite ever though reality shows are The Challenges and Survivor I love those types.

I like them and find them kind of hilarious. I watch a lot like the Bad girls club, real housewives franchise,mob wives franchise and competition series. One thing that I like about Bad girls club and Mob Wives is they seem more real they actually go all out in fights. I think the Real housewives of New Jersey has the most classy though being Caroline. Also I am addicted to basketball Wives.

I do find some of the people to be annoying and I don't understand why they are on tv but I think of it as just some good entertainment. I do however not really watch the dating shows anymore. Flavor Flav or however you spell it was popular when I was in school but yeah I am not into those anymore.

Jersey Shore took me some time to get into. I was put off because of Snooki but I actually don't mind her now. I love Pauly D haha.

Overall some of the people on the shows seem cool and you could hang with them some don't. If I like a majority of the people I can watch. Sometimes though the shows seem to fake.

I do think they may die down though after a while. Even MTV is starting to do more scripted shows.

I probably wouldn't mind reality shows so much if I felt they weren't replacing everything else I enjoy watching. It seems pilots for scripted shows don't get picked up as easy because reality tv is so much cheaper to produce and VH1 and MtV used to actually show music videos but now all they show is reality tv.

For the most part I don't enjoy reality television; I'd rather watch a scripted series with an actual story line. But, I do enjoy Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen and pretty much any of the cooking reality shows. I also like The Challenges and The Amazing Race.

I love competition reality shows like Project Runway, Top Chef, and my latest guilty pleasure, Food Network Star. I also used to watch Ace of Cakes all the time, not so much anymore. Is it weird that most of the reality shows I watch are about food?

I don't like the Big Brother types of shows, but I enjoy watching things like The Biggest Loser, is Extreme Makeover:Home Edition reality because I love watching that.

My dirty little secret in life is my love for the E! channel. I'm not proud of this, but I just can't stop! 😛

I've watched quite a lot of Reality TV in my day. I'm certainly not "above" it.

Today I'm going to watch the finale of The Voice. Ain't no one on this planet that can tell me Adam Levine and Blake Shelton aren't two of the most entertaining people on TV right now.

I loved the Hills, I thought Keeping up with the Kardashians was hilarious and I am obsessed with If You Really Knew Me on MTV.

I'm not sure if Americans will get this, but I must say it, there is nothing like coming home from work on a Saturday evening during the months of August-December and having The X-Factor to look forward too (and possibly a sneaky glass or wine or two (sw)). The whole of Britain and Ireland get caught up in it. Literally everyone I know watches it. From my Nana to my niece and all my friends. 30 seconds after X-Factor in Facebook is HILARIOUS!

Short of the World Cup I cannot think of another form of entertainment that creates such an avenue for shared experience. Even when everyone is rally against X-factor to get Rage Against the Machine to Christmas #1 lol 😉

So yeah, I kinda love Reality TV, warts and all.

Most reality shows I wouldn't like. But I'm a huge fan of Survivor, sometimes I like to watch The Amazing Race and ANTM and Project Runway. But that's it!

I'm not a big fan of them, but I have nothing against them. There are some good ones I can't get my eyes off, and then, there are some that are so boring and stupid.

Like Big Brother. In the beginning, it was ok, fun, casual.. now, every BB has to turn into some big orgy. Disgusting.

I really don't like reality TV. I have nothing against the people who do, but I just can't stand it. The people in shows like Big Brother just make me want to tear my eyes out. I'm more of a fantasy girl. I have enough reality in my life, I'd rather watch some Buffy or Supernatural or Doctor Who 😛

And I really can't stand Geordie Shore. I swear to god not all of Newcastle is like that and it's not like we didn't have a bad enough reputation as it is. I watched about 20 minutes of it and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Maybe I sound like an old fuddy duddy (at the age of 20!) but I just kept thinking "What if their parents see this and hear them saying that!" xD Maybe it's cause I'm not part of that 'scene' in Newcastle, but it just makes me cringe so bad.

I think the only reality show I've enjoyed watching was Bondi Rescue, and I can't even explain why 😛

The only reality shows I'll watch are the Kardashian shows but I cannot stand shows like Jersey Shore or the british knock off. It just goes to show how desperate people will get to be famous and even look like a plonker doing it. I'm still annoyed with the fact TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex) got a TV Bafta this year. What talents do these people have... none. Unless your in to "V'jazzling" or what ever they call it.

I don't like them. They often make me feel pretty uncomfortable.
There are different kinds of Reality TV Shows, of course, but I hate those parenting things.
Sometimes they make me wanna smack those rude brats in the face 😀

If I want to watch something I don't have to pay much attention to, I watch cartoons like SpongeBob, The Simpsons or Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner which is best for that sort of thing in my opinion.

Years ago I watched all the love reality shows (New York, Tila Tequila, That's Amore!) but those are not really on anymore. They were pretty good while they lasted.

I don't watch that many anymore. Teen Mom (the first group),The Challenge:Rivals, and Survivor.

I love Teen Mom and I hate most of the people on The Challenge but I can't not watch it. It is a love/hate relationship. I've been watching Survivor since maybe the Pearl Islands (S7). I love that show...although the last couple seasons have been disappointing.

I think most of the reality shows are BS, but I don't mind them because you can't deny that they are entertaining even if they are fake.

Oh, I forgot about Top Chef!! I love Fabio!! 😀

And Project Runway! I used to watch it but I don't really anymore. Christian is awesome.

ITA with this! I'm kind of "meh" about reality shows, I like some of them and will sometimes watch, but I don't follow anything religiously. I'm just so sick of how damn many there are- and most of them are pure crap. I used to watch MTV's Real World back in the day, and I like ANTM & the Kardashian's, AI and The Voice, and some of the dance shows but I'm not setting my DVR to watch any of it. And they cancelled my favorite Chicago Code & I'm sure will replace it with some stupid reality show.

And Amen about MTV- I was a teenager in the '80s- now that was the era of music videos! I can't tell you how long it's been since I've seen an actual music video on TV, if I want to see one I look it up on YouTube.

Oh, and I used to kind of like Jon & Kate + 8 until they started detailing their divorce on the air. That disgusted me, those poor kids. 🙁
