Reboot Casting

Emily Kinney and Anna Kendrick as Buffy and Willow respectively would be amazing... toss in Jurnee Smollett-Bell as a Cordy.
Not sure about their casting of Xander and Giles, but I think they got the women down.
 
Ugh YOU have to be joking. Emily Kinney is horrible and could never play Buffy. Anna Kendrick would never play Willow. The only one I liked was the Cordy.
 
No, I don't think Kendrick would EVER play a second (or third if they get that casting for Giles) fiddle.. But I do think her and Kinney would be good together. I think Kinney could play Buffy. It wouldn't be an SMG Buffy, but you wouldnt WANT someone trying to do an SMG version Buffy. Just as TV Buffy was different than movie Buffy, you'd want reboot Buffy to be wholly different as well. Kinney could do it.
 
No way - she EXUDES weakness. And she's too old.

I want to amend my earlier post saying that Cordy was the only choice I liked. Chiwetel Ejiofor would make an amazing Giles but he would never do it. That's the main issue with this list, it is completely unrealistic.
 
It might be interesting with the new Willow looking much more beautiful than Buffy or Cordelia. The insecurity bit that was Willow's hallmark for the first three years may have to be amended somehow.

And we still have a California show with no Hispanics. Have these casting agents ever stepped outside of their offices and looked around at what people look like?
 
Ok, I hate the idea of a Buffy reboot.... like totally. But I have so much love for Anna Kendrick. Not as Willow though, Anna is far too sass for Willow. Chiwetel Ejiofor would be a brilliant Giles. Josh Hutcherson... meh, but then Xander is a bit meh so it might work. Have no idea who the others are.

I still hate the idea of a reboot though. Let's not do it, eh....?!
 
I agree with none of the choices on the list. Emily Kinney's way too old and even if she was younger she isn't the actress I would pick for Buffy.

No offense, really I mean that - but don't you live in Canada? How do you know what small town California looks like? lol

I have travelled extensively through the US on business including, in California, San Diego, west Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo (which really is Sunnydale in my imagination), Monterrey, Big Sur, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, San Francisco, Gilroy, Oakland, Sausalito and points in between. I have also worked on contracts in Mesa AZ, Fort Worth TX, San Antonio TX, Round Rock TX, Austin TX And guess what? Lots of Hispanics everywhere. I don't get the resistance to casting people who look like a cross section of America. Part of the stories they tell could be a clash of cultures type of thing and this would be a rich source of it. Are Hispanics the new blacks in American TV?

I'm not resistant to it. But it is not out of the ordinary for a small town like Sunnydale to not check every box on the race spectrum, and I don't think shows should have to do that just to say they did.

There weren't that many Asians either and there are many Asians in the area of where Sunnydale would be. I'm sure there were some fat people too and they weren't represented either.
 
Some of us found Willow more beautiful than Buffy or Cordy. 😉
As an intellectual exercise here's my cast list:

Buffy: Saoirse Ronan or Chloë Grace Moretz
Willow: Elle Fanning or Saoirse Ronan (could see her as either really)
Xander: Devin Druid
Giles: Timothy Hutton
Cordelia: Hailee Steinfeld or Hallie Ramm

List was kinda off the top of my head. Didn't go by how famous or lack thereof.
I think that a re-imagining would be preferable to a remake.

The rest, no, no and did I mention no?
 
I would want an unknown cast, with actors who are not super famous like Anna Kendrick. One or two well known names for supporting cast, perhaps; to get the word out a bit.

I would want Joss helping out though, not the main writer, but maybe a producer. I want his approval for the lead writers though 🙂
