Seems like lots of shows/movies are being rebooted. I know that there are varying opinions on that.

I watched the UK/Manchester one again recently. Still enjoyed it but it feels dated. It's not helped by the fact that a) half the bars in The Village have probably gone under because of lockdown and b) they've built a huge and very expensive apartment block near the top of Canal St. I've got the Pittsburgh QaF on DVD but never watched it (story of my damned life). As @Mr Trick says, circumstances mean it's probably ready for a remake. New Orleans? Sounds great! 😎

They are rebooting True Blood as well. I was like GAH! NO! at the idea. But... maybe if they more closely follow the books. Though I suspect that would get them in trouble as they would be killing off a fan favorite from the original series early, plus a lgbtqia so I am sure that wouldn't set well either.

They're also talking about rebooting Conan the Barbarian for Netflix.

What with all of these distributors getting their own streaming channels and hunting for content they have tons of reboots, revivals and continuations going on now.

It's apparently known as the "big easy" because it "refers to the easy-going, laid back attitude to life that jazz musicians and local residents indulge in there and that people do things their own way, without ever fearing judgement."
 
@Spanky Have you seen Treme?

Is the Pope Catholic? Actually, I've only seen 1&2 - I wasn't at home when 3&4 ran so didn't have Sky. The lads bought me the boxset a couple of Xmases ago. I haven't watc...oh never mind. You know how it goes.

With no Nelsan Ellis, they might as well stick to the books. 😏

I liked the first season of True Blood. It was very soapy but really good fun. But it got a bit too silly in later seasons. I think a reboot of this could work although it depends what tone they go for - do they make it even soapier or try and turn it into a more serious prestige drama

Battlestar Galactica is the one I am looking forward to. There is so much to explore in that world and especially with Sam Esmail involved, although he said it will be a new story in the same world rather than a reboot
I hope it doesnt join Buffy in developmental hell after the showrunner left last month
 
From a business standpoint, reboots make sense because you have a built-in fanbase. From a creative standpoint, I have yet to see a true reboot (not a revival, like Will & Grace) that surpasses the original in quality. There is a certain magic that occurs the first time a concept or series is shown. This is why the Muppets cannot get back up and running again. They were iconic in the 80s, but its not the same trying to rehash old concepts. This, of course, is different than utilizing a timeless character. BBC´s Sherlock was outstanding. So is the CW´s Nancy Drew right now.
 
I'm guessing that you missed Battlestar Galactica, cause it was vastly superior to the original
 
@HowiMetdaSlayer To be fair a lot of people would have said that about the first reboot. Sam Esmail has a lot of talent as a director at least. I can see his style working well in a Sci-fi.
