Some shows similar to Buffy I suggest would be Supernatural, Smallville, and Ghost Whisperer. I also heard American Horror Story and The Walking Dead are really good.

May I also suggest a Buffy rewatch? You can't go wrong with one of those. 😉

Chuck (Gets annoying after a while, but it's seriously worth watching just for Adam Baldwin alone. He's fabulous in it. And very nummy) [Off air]
Fringe (Didn't like it at first, but once I sat down and watched from the first ep I became absolutely hooked. John Noble FTW.) [Fox]
Dark Angel (I find this show to be massively underrated) [Off air]

Battlestar Galactica is one of my top shows of all time. I watched the entire series in two weeks. Seriously one of the most well written and well acted shows I have ever seen. The later seasons aren't as good as the first two but it's still an amazing story. And the characters. THE CHARACTERS. Laura Roslin forever, please.

Game of Thrones and Dexter are both excellent if you want to get sucked in but don't have too much time to devote to a new series as the seasons are only about thirteen episodes. Each episode is awesome and moves the story along since they have less time than longer season tv shows.

The new Battlestar Galactica is my favorite show of all-time. It does a great job of being an epic science fiction show, but it also has a lot of human drama that people can relate too
