I dunno if this has been done recently but oh well. My music is beginning to need something new to freshen it up abit so thought it would nice to post a thread with people's recommendations for each other. I'll go first

Anything by Pearl Jam or REM, because neither band has yet to put out a bad cd. If you want a good place to start though i'd go with Ten from Pearl Jam and Automatic For The People from REM.

Evanescence - Origin. Extremely hard to find, but it's possibly the best music I've heard. EVER.

Disturbed - Believe/Ten Thousand Fists.
Marilyn Manson - The Golden Age of Grotesque.

I think that's about it. Those are the only CD's I listen to without having to skip tracks, and that's what I constitute a good CD.

yes another person who likes Eve 6!!!
I'm not really listening to as much music these days as I used to but the last CDs I bought were "The Best of Kirsty Macoll" and "Employment" by the Kaiser Chiefs, both of which are a cracking listen...

Dang! Kate Bush has a new record out? I got into her stuff with "The Sensual World". She's always been a weird cult figure in the States...though she inspired countless Tori Amos types...

The woman is lyrically and musically a genius.....
Performance wise, she commands full attention.
For teh novice Bush fans amongst you, The Kick Inside, her second Album. Thats the best to start, simply because of the magnificent 'Wuthering Heights'. Also on that album, the excellent 'Man with a chld in his Eyes'.
The i recommend the 'House of Love' Album.....Running up the Hill and Mother Stands for Comfort.....two great tracks....infact her entire collection worth listening to.
 
Never really taken to Kate Bush, although an ex girlfriend of mine was a big fan of hers.

Female singer/songwriter wise i would probably go for ...

Sarah McLachlan: Surfacing
K T Tunstall: Eye to the Telescope
Lene Marlin: Playing My Game

cool lene marlin..... ;) i'm norwegian too... fro the other side of the country but still cool.
She might be too twangy and American for some, but I love Neko Case. It's something like "country noir". Kind of spooky, David Lynchian reverb, guitars. She's sorta like Patsy Cline, but more energetic. But she's all over the place: folk, rock, country, jazz, Aretha Franklin, Loretta Lynn covers. Powerful, clear voice. I really like her records "Blacklisted" and "The Tigers Have Spoken".

Now that I've listed all my favorite metal ones, I think I've got a few not of the genre.

Coheed and Cambria - Second Stage Turbine Blade/In Keeping Secrets of the Silent Earth, III. Freakin' AMAZING. The only thing my ex did right was get me into Coheed.
OutKast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
Green Day - American Idiot. I'm gonna go with the masses and say this, just because of 'Jesus of Suburbia'. Punk ROCK.
Missy Elliot - Under Construction.

Okay, now soundtracks:

The Punisher - It's got Amy Lee and Seether, DAMAGEPLAN, Mark Collie and few dozen others that rock your freakin' socks off.
The Craft - 'How Soon Is Now?'...enough said.
The Queen of the Damned - oh...my...GOTH. I never skip a track on this CD. The freakin' David Drahmin song owns my soul, and the Marilyn Manson one, and the Jay Gordon one, and...
