Recommend any good shows?

Im starting to binge watch Whedons shows and they're both becoming an influence on my writing and taste in media. Here are shows I'm considering to watch:

Battlestar Galactica (2003): I've watched the miniseries and I ****ing love it.

Roswell: I've heard it's a similar show like Buffy, but with spacey stuff.
 
I would recommend South Park, especially the period between Season 8 and Season 14.

If you see it from a story writer's point of view, it's much more than cheap humor and social commentary. The characterizations and plots are often great and sometimes perfect. If you watch carefully you will be surprised at how they could tell a whole story with expectation subversions in only 20 minutes with tons of extra sub-plots and banter moments.

Plus, the songs in South Park are top-notch. About three hundred levels higher than OMWF songs. Sorry Joss. Your talents are in other places than music.
 
I've never seen BG, so I don't have an opinion on that.

I've seen the first season of Roswell and liked it, but it's nowhere nearly as good as Buffy and Angel.
 
I assume you mean mostly sci-fi type shows like Buffy.

If you like the humor of Buffy, you might like Z Nation. It's a show about a zombie apocalypse, but it reminds me of Buffy when it comes to the humor.

Another interesting sci-fi that could be considered along the same line is the 100. It's not my favourite show, there's lots of flaws, but there's also a lot of good stuff in it, and if you get pass the first few episodes with all the teenager-ness, things actually get interesting.

Veronica Mars has a similar atmosphere and humour to Buffy, but it's not supernatural/sci fi.

I liked Roswell, but let's just say that by the time it was cancelled, I was hardly surprised. Still well worth a watch though in my opinion.

You might like Torchwood. First two seasons particularly.

I'd also recommend Being Human (UK original, can't stress that enough) to anyone. Great group dynamic and some really good dark humour. It's a lot more graphic than Buffy though, just a heads up.

Before I got into Buffy, Roswell was my teen Sci-Fi show. Now I see it more as a guilty pleasure. The final season was pretty dreadful and the ending badly rushed.

Yeah sadly so. I loved it too originally, but by the end I was definitely fine with not getting a season 4.
 
I'd definitely agree on BSG. One of the best shows. I'd suggest West Wing, The Newsroom, Northern Exposure, Once & Again and Being Human (UK). As for shows that are still on I'd suggest Black Sails, The Americans, Fortitude, Sherlock, and Halt & Catch Fire.

So nice to see another West Wing fan. Too few on the boards.
Right now, some of my current favorites include:

Continuum (Canadian Science Fiction television show about a law enforcement woman from the year 2080 who, through complicated circumstances, gets flung into the present day and is chasing fugitives from the far future who want to change history and simultaneously find her way back home to her family. I have enjoyed it so far).
Penny Dreadful (the show takes familiar characters from 19th century literature and such but places them in an different but thematically consistent circumstances, all together. It's kind of a fun romp and a different take on well-worn characters. I hope Sherlock Holmes shows up at some point!).
Shannara Chronicles on MTV of all channels (it's aimed at a younger audience but I'm still enjoying it. I was a fan of the books though as a boy, so I'm probably biased. The show is based on the Elfstones of Shannara written by Terry Brooks in the high fantasy genre).
Halt and Catch Fire (objectively probably only a B or so, but I enjoy the subject matter, and it's improving. It's a show about the 80's computer revolution).
Mr. Robot (a show about hacking. Best show on television right now not named Game of Thrones, easily.).
John Adams miniseries (I have only just now gotten around to it. Pretty amazing. It focuses on the role John Adams had to play in the founding of the United States of America. Ben Franklin is by far my favorite guy in this though).
Game of Thrones (who isn't).

That's about it currently, other than rewatches of Angel and Buffy (more Angel). I'm tuned into the new X-files season as well. On the sci-fi tip I always kind of thought Farscape was underrated. Other than that, I like Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Voyager a lot too for science fiction (Captain Janeway all the way for me).

John Adams and Penny Dreadfuls are both great shows for different reasons.
Honestly? There's nothing like Buffy out there.

But if you like vampires, and fantasy in general, I'd reccommend Being Human (the British one). Its pretty good. And yes BSG is really good!!!

I'd also second Supernatural. It's one of my all time favorite shows. Dean (one of the two leads) is a fascinating character. It goes downhill after season 5, but it's well worth watching until then. Supernatural is the only show I've come close to loving as much as Buffy, so that says something.
 
Listen to @AnthonyCordova and watch Continuum! An incredibly gripping story that has a lot to say about the direction the world is heading in as well as being entertaining. Also Game of Thrones obviously. Don't get your hopes up for Roswell.

Also I'd like to throw "Medium" out there. It's a very good mix of the supernatural and crime solving genres.

@AnthonyCordova How far did you get in the 100? I admit it takes quite a long bit before it picks up. I'd say I had to watch at least up till 3/4 of the first season before I started getting into it. I haven't caught up to s3 yet, so I can't comment on that, but late s1 and s2 have pretty consistent good writing. I can still see why it's not a show for everyone though.
