Hey guys and gals,

I have got the first 3 vols of Buffy and 2 of ATF and love the Angel ones heaps. Buffy ones are ok so far. Can anyone recommend me any other comics, whedon related and non whedon?

The Darkness ones look interesting but yeah i have no idea.

Help Please 🙂

Read Black Hole by Charles Burns.
Frays pretty cool. Buffy related and even canon but set in a different time.
 
You should check out Runaways. It's very Buffy like, and Joss writes one of the later volumes. But you should start with Brian K. Vaughn's run. His characters, and he writes them the best. 🙂
 
Fray is incredible, so I definitely recommend that. I think even people who haven't seen Buffy or Angel can enjoy it, since it has the same mythology as the 'verse, but that's about it.

As for comics outside of the Buffyverse, Runaways is one of my favorites. It has a lot of very Whedon-esque humor, great characters, and a really interesting plot (especially in Brian K. Vaughan's last couple of arcs.) Plus, Joss writes the Dead End Kids arc (issues 25-30), so that's definitely a reason to check them out. Another great one is Y: The Last Man...I started it fairly recently, but I'm falling in love with it very quickly.

Oh, and, if you haven't read it yet, check out Watchmen. It's not really a graphic novel...it's the graphic novel. Plus, reading it will help you further appreciate the movie when it comes out (Friday!).

i will give these all a look but probably wont buy them all (due to a lack of mucho dinero) but thanks everyone for the recommendations.

The comics im buying hopefully within the next few weeks are going to be Fray, Tales of vampires/slayers, Spike: ATF. The Darkness compendium Vol 1 (contains issues 1-40!!! I think its over 1000 pages....
 
damn... now i have even more to buy.

Whedon related: Joss' run on Astonishing X-Men. Definitely worth a look.

Ex Machina (sort of like The West Wing, X-Files and Iron Man mixed together)

Also, anything by Darwyn Cooke. Especially DC: The New Frontier and Catwoman: Selina's Big Score.
 
If you like Star Wars, you should try Dark Horse' Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comics. I takes places 4,000 years before the movies, so you're not required to know a lot about the universe.

yeah i saw the ad for it in one of my comics, i like star wars and i have actually played the KOTOR games aswell, are there any of the same characters??

also can someone help me out, i have the darkness compendium which is issues 1-40, but im not sure now what to get after it, there is no volume 2 compendium so im not sure which TPB's i need to get to continue the story.

It takes place a couple of years before the first game. It's set during the Mandalorian War, when Revan is just beginning to get followers for his cause. The focus is on another Jedi though, but they do meet various game-characters and in the background you can see the story building up.

The cool thing is that the main story revolving around the other Jedi is actually KotOR 1 worthy.
 
Off the top of my head anything by Kevin Smith, Astro City by Kurt Busiek, Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore and Strangehaven by Gary Millidge .

Film was good, but I quit reading halfway through the first comic, because it felt a little boring. So, no recommendation from me.
 
I would say since I am a Marvel Fan you could go with...

New X-Men: Academy X (you don't have to read the older X-Men comics but you may want to know the basics of X-Men before you read it.)

Runaways (As people above have mentioned it has some Whedonesque Humor and the characters RULE)

Young Avengers (this comic doesn't have a lot of issues but I am hoping more will come out soon because I love it.)

You may also try the Serenity comics if you have seen/like Firefly.
