Soon I hope I'll be able to get myself a new phone. It's about time since the current one is a Nokia 3320 and it seems to be dying on me. So as you can see I'm not one of those people changing phones at least once a year. I can't afford one of the more expenisve ones so lets stay away from them. But it doesn't have to be the cheapest ones available either. And I really don't need a lot of fancy stuff. I would probably not use it anyway. And I definitely don't use my phone to play games. But a good/decent (depending on your definition) camera would be nice as well at having access to emails and possibly msn. About the camera I was naive enough to think that 3 MP was always better than 2MP and so on. But from reading reviews I've gathered that it isn't always the case. Shows how little I know. 😉

So can you recommend me a good one? Or tell me what to stay away from (phones that sounds good but in reality isn't worth the money). What kind of phone do you have and what do you think about it?

Since I've had a Nokia for so long I guess it's what I'm used too. But I don't mind checking out other brands. Just recommend what you like.

I'm an Ericsson kinda gal, so those are really the only ones I can talk about. Since I'm quite the clutz I tend to change my phone rather often, though, so I'm no authority on the longevity of phones. Right now I have a C901. I think that may fit your needs. Good camera, nice phone, accetable calendar. I haven't used it for e-mailing, but it's on the phone's list of things it does. It doesn't fold clothes or tidy my fridge, though. That would be a nice upgrade.

I'm a HUGE Ericsson fan!! Love them!
I've got a black LG KS360, it's pretty great for texting and messaging cos of the wee keyboard. The camera is good enough, although I wish it had a flash.

It's sorta of a girly phone though? My lil sis has the same

Phone twins (L) yeah it's good,no flash is reallllly annoying!

I have a MyTouch my T-Mobile. I don't know if it's availible on other plans, but I'd def reccommend it. It's expensive, but well worth it. You can go on email, full web browsing, it has an MP3 player, video player, and everything else you'd ever need.

Doesn't seem to be available here.
Don't buy any touch screen lg. It's fun for about a week and then the screen just pisses you off beyond belief.

hahaha tell me about it!
I don't know much about which models are offered in Sweden, but before I got my iPhone I was a diehard Ericsson fan, for sure. I love their style and the features of their phones.

The Kinslayer agrees: Ericsson is swedish. Even if it's now together with Sony so only half swedish. Nokia is finish so I guess I should go with Ericsson. 😉 And you know my last name...
I knew Ericsson was a Swedish company. I just didn't know which models made by Ericsson are available, so just suggested the brand for ya. Otherwise I might reccommend something that's only sold in the U.S. LOL
And yes, you should be partial to Ericsson because of your name. 😉

You got a model to recommend just do so and I'll check if I can get it. Nothing more to it. You guys recommend, I see what I can get here and then try to make a decision. Which might not be one you recommend. But first I need to get my money. 😉

Do NOT get an env, env2, or en3. It is the worst phone I've ever had! lol

Must admit I don't even know what that is. But thanks for the tip. If I come across one I'll definitely not get it.
I just got an iPhone and yeah, it's a godsend. I am so in love. The camera is nice, and there are SO many apps to download. The email and internet functions are super handy.

IN LOVE.

AMEN! I don't know what I'd do without mine!
iPhone is/are great; I cant imagine not having one now. So much more than just a phone and much better than a Crackberry.

YES!! I totally agree!
I'm sure iphone is great but I think it's too expensive since I need to buy more things as well. And I'm not sure a simple guy as me need one. Might just put money on a lot of fancy stuff that I won't use anyway. But I'll check it out. How good is really the camera?

With the new 3Gs, you can record video and edit it from the phone as well
I have a BlackBerry Curve, and I'm pretty much in love it with. Good camera, email capability, MSN/YIM/etc, loads of apps and games...and Facebook wherever I go, lol. And the QWERTY keyboard is really good, I love that.

I love having a QWERTY keyboard on my phone, can't live without it now!
It is RARE that I ever use the camera, I find it to be a pain in my Flannel cake.. there are NUMEROUS other reasons than a camera. It's first and foremost a smart phone, but the amount of apps available makes it so much more than just a smartphone, it is almost a portable entertainment centre.

I thought when I got the iPhone I would miss QWERTY, but it is actually much easier, for me, to type and compose emails with the iPhone. They are in the process of adding an external QWERTY but I dont think I would ever get one. But Crackberry is great phone as well.

As I said. I wouldn't use a lot of that stuff.

Doesn't it though? I've had a few coworkers pick it up thinking it was a kid's toy or something!
I used to be a diehard Crackberry fan. Then I got an iPhone. TOTALLY CONVERTED. It's awesome and I love it. The camera on my Crackberry was better, and it had a flash, but I can live with that for all the stuff I can do with my iPhone that I couldn't do with my Crackberry.

I picked up a Samsung "Reclaim" a few months ago and so far I'm really impressed with it. It's a slider-style phone and an eco-friendly model, and I'm not sure if you were after all full keyboard but they do have one which I find great for emails and the web. Right when you start up the phone, it gives you a menu with quick-shortcuts to Text Messages, Facebook, Self-Serve (so you can check your bills right from your phone), Favourite Contacts, Instant Messaging and the Web (where you could bookmark hotmail, BB, etc) which I find really comes in handy. It's surprisingly durable, survived a few drops already without any problems. And so far it's the fastest and most reliable phone I've ever had. And the camera on it's only a 2MP, but I've been quite impressed with the photo/video quality so far. As far as cell phone cameras go, I think it takes surprisingly good photos. It does have a lot of other features on it (music, games, TV/video I think is available somehow even though I've never tried using it) and by the sounds of things you don't really need 'em, but I have noticed that phones with a music player tend to have a longer battery life than those without. I can typically go 2 days of using it (a lot!) without charging mine, which is a long time compared to the other mobiles I've had.

Anyway, here's the link for more info if you'd like to check it out: click!

I'd definitely recommend looking into Samsung or Nokia phones anyway, in my experience they seem to be the most reliable and last longer than other brands. 🙂

The only other word of caution I may have for you is to make sure that you look up reviews from Swedish customers before buying anything Sony (especially an Ericsson!). I don't know about how the phones went over elsewhere but around here ericssons got really popular for a few years, and anyone who bought one that I know ended up returning it within a year. My girlfriend and three of my friends all bought one and every time the screen ended up going blank after the first year, and eventually the buttons/speakers stopped working too. Maybe they've improved since then, but I read that a few people had recommended them, so just be careful!
